While The Game Awards 2024 featured some great reveals, fans were left disappointed by two major absences – Half-Life 3 and Grand Theft Auto 6. A whirlwind of rumours and data suggested that this year’s Half-Life 3 speculations may actually be legitimate, and we’ve heard nothing official about GTA 6 since its reveal trailer.

Does GTA 6 Winning Most Anticipated At The Game Awards Matter?
Most Anticipated Game is not a real award, but it still has an interesting history.
While no more GTA 6 news may come our way in 2024, it seems there are a few more details about the game that we haven’t seen in the first trailer. Thanks to Chinese video app Bilbili’s 17,000kbps bitrate, as opposed to YouTube’s 10,000kbps, we can see a few more details on the BiliBili version as opposed to the one most of us have seen on YouTube.
GTA 6 Trailer Has More Details Than We’ve Seen
As pointed out by GTA 6 Info on Twitter (via GameRoll), it seems the version of the GTA 6 trailer we’ve seen on YouTube, Twitter, or Instagram is compressed in a way that shrouds some of the finer details. Thanks to the higher bitrate of BiliBili, we can actually see some of these details, and the game looks even better than we thought.
A side by side analysis of certain images reveals details like stretch marks on thighs, lip crevasses, sand sticking to NPCs’ feet at the beach, detailed footsteps in the sand, and hair on Lucia’s arm.
GameRoll pointed out that you’ll need to load the images in 4K to see the difference in quality, but it is stark when you compare the two.
Even negligible details like the creases on the leather car seat are more defined in the BiliBili version of the trailer. This, of course, isn’t Rockstar’s fault – it’s not like the developer gave BiliBili a better trailer. In fact, it’s YouTube’s lower bitrate that has enshrouded these minute details.
In the end, however, this is a trailer. And, while the fidelity of Rockstar games isn’t in question, we should judge how good it looks when it’s finally out. Red Dead Redemption 2 was one of the most beautiful and detail-oriented triple-A titles ever made, and we can expect the developer to raise the bar with GTA 6.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is an upcoming title in the long-running series from Rockstar Games. Currently scheduled for a 2025 launch, details are few, although it appears to focus on a Bonnie-and-Clyde-like pair of characters.
