Astro Bot: Every Cameo Level, Ranked

Astro Bot is a deluge of PlayStation cameos, and some even get their own, full levels.

From cute animal outfits to outfits based on beloved PlayStation IPs, Astro has quite a few options to wear here, and you can get most of them by simply playing at the gacha machine at the crash site – aka the game’s hub area. Let’s talk about your options.

Updated on December 30, 2024, by Lucas Olah: Christmas time is here, and Team Asobi gave us an early present in the form of a special, free level themed around Christmas. In this level, you find multiple presents, and they come with new bots to save, as well as costumes for Astro and new colors for the DualSense speeder. Here, we’re going to focus on the new costumes and what place they’ll be ranked, along with the original ones from the game. We’ve got some really good ones here, so it’s a fun challenge for us. Also, congratulations on Game of the Year, Astro Bot.

Cheeky Ape

Bot Escape

Astro wearing the Cheeky Ape skin in Astro Bot.

Based on Ape Escape, this costume is a great choice to match with all the other ape bots you can find and rescue in Apes on the Loose.

That said, this outfit sadly hides Astro’s face, and he’s too adorable to be hidden. The face here is pretty funny, though.

23

Bovine

Animal Pack One

Astro wearing the Bovine skin in Astro Bot.

Not everything needs to be based on another IP, as you have some costumes that are just that: costumes. From the animal outfits, our first one is the cow.

While the bovine outfit has a funny head proportion, you get to see Astro’s face here, which is a plus.

22

Stealth

No One Will See You Coming

Astro wearing the Stealth skin in Astro Bot.

We return to not having a face, and this costume feels more like a power-up that could’ve played a role in the game, rather than just a different look.

The reflectiveness is pretty fun, but you literally have no face here, not even a silly mask, cutting Astro’s expressions completely.

21

Skelly

Dead Gorgeous

Astro wearing the Skelly skin in Astro Bot.

Among all the skins that don’t show Astro’s face, this one stands out for its unique body design, showing what a dead Astro would look like.

If only it had armor, a shield, and a sword; this could’ve been a Daniel Fortesque – aka the MediEvil guy – skin. Still, it’s a great pick already.

20

Golden

Fancy

Astro wearing the Golden skin in Astro Bot.

Games can’t skip the golden skin. And it is what it is: the default costume, but all in gold.

The best part of this costume is that there’s a golden DualSense skin that you can put on as well to make your Astro and controller match.

19

Red Panda

Animal Pack Two

Astro wearing the Red Panda skin in Astro Bot.

We’re back with animals, and this time, we have a red panda in a costume that looks far cuter than previous options.

8 Best Levels In Astro Bot

Astro Bot has a lot of great levels, but these are the best.

Its body proportions also fit Astro better, especially with the way it’s shaped around his face.

18

Teddy

Animal Pack Three

Astro wearing the Teddy skin in Astro Bot.

It’s like the previous one, but better. It’s a better fit, and it looks adorable, too. Who doesn’t love a teddy bear outfit?

If your main focus is to make Astro look as cute as possible, this costume is probably the best option you’ll get, even if the others may make him look cooler.

17

Antler Adventurer

The Red-Nosed Bot

Astro wearing the Antler Adventurer costume in Astro Bot.

Christmas got us a fourth animal costume, and it’s the best one among them. You get to dress up as a reindeer, with a red nose and everything.

Along with the cute factor, this costume is far more detailed compared to the other three, giving it a more special touch to its design. Plus, it’s perfect for playing the game during the holidays.

Sidekick Not Included

Astro wearing the Tooled-Up Mechanic skin in Astro Bot.

Back to other IPs, be ready to rift your enemies apart with this amazing costume based on the galaxy’s only best Lombax, Ratchet.

It’s mainly based on his first appearance, where he was just hanging around shirtless. Astro also hangs around shirtless, so it fits.

15

Fungus Head

Become A Fun Guy

Astro wearing the Fungus Head skin in Astro Bot.

Why dress like an iconic Last of Us character when you get to be a cool zombie?

Based on the series infected, you have simple clothes with some spores on your head, so you’ll look menacing. Or maybe just cute, too.

14

Pro Driver

Car Not Included

Astro wearing the Pro Driver skin in Astro Bot.

To make sure you’re protected during your DualSense travels, you can wear this fantastic outfit based on Gran Turismo, with a helmet and everything.

The outfit itself is rather simple, but the helmet that still allows you to see Astro makes it a unique design here.

13

Festive Fellow

Presents Not Included

Astro wearing the Festive Fellow costume in Astro Bot.

Well, there’s not much to explain here; it’s a Santa costume. It’s just his regular outfit, with a cute beard and everything.

What makes it standout – aside from being Santa’s costume – is how detailed its design is, with the triangle pattern throughout the costume, the reindeer bot symbol in the belt, and the beard, which we already mentioned, but it does make Astro look adorable, so it’s worth pointing it out again.

12

Gravity Shifter

Defy Gravity

Astro wearing the Gravity Shifter skin in Astro Bot.

From Gravity Rush, you can dress yourself as Kat, and though gravity-bending powers aren’t included, it’s a fitting outfit for a platformer.

Astro doesn’t have a lot of outfits based on female leads, sadly, but that also makes this one stand out a bit. Plus, it’s a great choice of character.

11

Eco Warrior

Sidekick Also Not Included

Astro wearing the Eco Warrior skin in Astro Bot.

While you wait for Jak 4 to never happen, you can at least jump around dressed like Jak here, which is also very appropriate as he’s also a platforming legend.

This skin is based on his very first game, as Jak changes his looks quite a bit from game to game. This version is far more light-hearted than the others, which fits Astro.

10

Throwback

Very Retro

Astro wearing the Throwback skin in Astro Bot.

Astro Bot pays a lot of homage to many older games through its references, but most importantly, through its old-school gameplay.

Thus, it’s very fitting that he has a low-poly outfit, which also comes with a PS1-inspired DualSense.

9

Original

Don’t Change Perfection

Astro wearing the Original skin in Astro Bot.

You know, Astro has a great design by himself, without worrying about outfits. We all like the idea of using different skins and testing them out, but why not stick to the original design?

He’s charming, he has a great color scheme going on, he’ll match the basic DualSense – which also looks good – and you’ll get to see him express his emotions and dance moves in their full glory.

8

Lovestruck Lyricist

You Gotta Believe!

Astro wearing the Lovestruck Lyricist skin in Astro Bot.

Another legacy title from Sony, which was sadly lost in the past, is PaRappa the Rapper, a rhythmic game where you follow commands while also repeating them in a creative rhythm.

Luckily for us, PaRappa is a stylish character, so having access to his wardrobe makes Astro very stylish as well.

7

Ring-Tailed Thief

Still Lost In Time

Astro wearing the Ring-Tailed Thief skin in Astro Bot.

While you also wait for Sly Cooper 5 to never happen, you can also jump around here dressed as another platforming legend, Sly.

The blend between Astro’s face screen and Sly’s mask is a wonderful detail, and the outfit itself is very charming.

6

Wandering Trespasser

Ready For A Colossal Assignment

Astro wearing the Wandering Trespasser skin in Astro Bot.

Another classic from the past is Shadow of The Colossus, which’s also referenced here among the many cameos – and they get three bots to reference them!

Along with the triple reference, Wander also lends us his robes so we can wander around the game with them.

5

Horned Protector

ICOnic

Astro wearing the Horned Protector skin in Astro Bot.

Along with Wander, we also get Ico’s outfit, along with the iconic horns on Astro’s head.

It’s also relatively similar to the Wander’s – they do dress similarly – but far more colorful, which is also more fitting for Astro himself.
