Black Ops 6’s Free-For-All Score Glitch Explained

Black Ops 6's Free-For-All Score Glitch Explained

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has seen its fair share of glitches and bugs since it launched in October, but an ongoing problem in the beloved Free-For-All mode has been particularly frustrating for players. While Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been a stronger release compared to some of its more recent predecessors, some glitches in the game have been persistent issues, and Free-For-All is seeing one of the game’s biggest problems of all.

When playing Free-For-All in Black Ops 6, the goal is to be the first player to reach 30 kills. This seems pretty straightforward, but the glitch that is plaguing players has been barring seemingly rightful winners from the title of victor. Despite a player racking up the necessary 30 kills, the mode won’t register them as the winner of the match, which has left many confused.

Black Ops 6 Free-For-All Players Want Answers From Developer Treyarch

A Long-Running Issue That Has Yet to Be Addressed

According to many players on Reddit, this issue has been happening since Black Ops 6 Season 1 started. That was on November 14, meaning this massive glitch has been continuing to irk players for close to two months. Player Eye_Of_Apollo posted to Reddit, stating that they had documented 200 instances of them being the official winner, only to not be given the victory. The frustrated player further stated, “I have reported it everywhere and to my knowledge, Treyarch, has not acknowledged it.” Fellow players, like Raydeeoo0818, replied to the post, stating, “I don’t know why they haven’t fixed this yet.”

Black Ops 6‘s upcoming Squid Game crossover has ignited further controversy, as reports of the collaboration including a separate paid Battle Pass have angered some players.

There are theories as to why this is the case, though. Reddit user Friendly_Pitch7039 suggested that these seemingly incorrect end-game scores could be due to Black Ops 6 registering assists as eliminations. While this would make sense as to why this is happening, it would also add to the frustration, as this method is counter-productive to the goal of Free-For-All. Counting assists as eliminations makes sense in a team-based match, but Free-For-All pits every player against each other, which could make this assist approach arguably unfair in this specific mode. There have been a variety of issues plaguing Black Ops 6, and Treyarch’s lack of response regarding the Free-For-All glitch has left many unhappy.

Treyarch Hopefully Address This Issue Sooner, Rather Than Later

As of now, it’s unclear whether the glitch will be fixed soon or not, but a patch will hopefully arrive in the coming weeks. While there may potentially be a good reason for Treyarch to not outright address the problem at hand, the silence also leaves many frustrated. Also, with Black Ops 6‘s player count on Steam dropping by over 30% since its launch, not responding to the community may only cause that number to drop even lower.

Another major glitch to hit Black Ops 6 was the recent Archie’s Festival Frenzy holiday event. Thanks to a strange glitch, a lot of players were automatically given thousands of Jolly Archies, which served as the special currency for the event. This influx of Jolly Archies allowed players to instantly unlock the event’s rewards.

Unfortunately, sometimes fixes like this take longer than some would like, so it may be a while until Treyarch is able to make Free-For-All run as smoothly as frustrated players want. On the other hand, Treyarch may have intended to count the mode’s scores this way all along. It may not be entirely clear, but until a potential fix gets brought to the mode, Free-For-All players may have to expect a potential loss, even if it seems as though they are winning. Black Ops 6 has faced several controversies since its launch, but Treyarch will hopefully fine tune the game as the weeks and months pass.
