Yamato was initially born a female and, as Kaido’s daughter, was meant to become his heir as she was previously known as the “Oni Princess.” However, 20 years prior, Yamato witnessed Oden’s death during the Legendary Hour and became fascinated with adoration for him and his ideology. Unfortunately, as Yamato was only eight at the time, she was too weak to prevent his execution and stand up to her father.

After witnessing Oden’s death, Yamato also found his logbook near the river of Oden Castle that day and has considered it her bible ever since. Yamato was so moved by the “Hour-Long Execution” and Oden’s logbook that she decided to become a man and live as Oden, taking on his name and living by his ideals.

Although Kaido wished Yamato to be his heir in the “New Onigashima” and turn him into the next Shogun, Yamato was not eager with this plan and refused to participate. While Yamato took on Oden’s name and chose to live as him, Yamato did not seek to be the next Shogun; however, he wished to elevate Momonosuke to it and open up Wano Country.

During the Raid on Onigashima, Yamato’s role was critical to the mission’s success. Although the Straw Hats had not expected an additional ally, who was Kaido’s son, Yamato continued to prove himself worthy of Luffy’s and Momonosuke’s trust at the beginning of the Raid. While many were slightly shocked that the son of Kaido was assisting in the Raid, Yamato’s strength, strategy, and motivation were another nail in the coffin required for the mission’s success.

Yamato’s contact with Luffy and Momonosuke would set the scene for the remainder of the Raid. Yamato, establishing himself as an ally to the Straw Hats and a powerhouse of a combatant who also knew Ace, proved him reliable in more ways than one.

After Kaido defeated Luffy during their first round and Law and Kid were occupied by Big Mom, Yamato took the stand against his father to finally free himself from the psychological chains that Kaido still had on him. Yamato taking the initiative to fight Kaido served two purposes: the first was to free himself from Kaido’s hold, and the second was to slow down Kaido until Luffy returned to the battlefield. Had Yamato not taken this stand, the battle within the Skull Dome on the Live Stage would have taken a drastic turn, as many would have lost hope that Luffy would not return.

Yamato is Kaido’s son, and he is also significantly powerful. He has Supreme King Haki and a Mythical Zoan Inu Inu no Mi, Model Okuchi no Makami Devil Fruit, each of these elements making him a formidable opponent and fantastic ally. During their battle, Yamato’s declaration to his father later affected him during his second battle with Luffy. He drunkenly lamented various failures and continued the battle while intoxicated.

It’s been consistently known that Momonosuke is cowardly and terrified of taking a stand against Kaido. However, although Momonosuke has outwardly shown his cowardly side, he always strives to better himself and be the brave warrior Luffy, and the Nine Red Scabbards know he can be. While Luffy is an exceptional source of motivation for Momonosuke, having Yamato at his side, providing him constant reassurance and encouragement, helped Momonosuke find the courage within himself to prevent Onigashima from falling on the Flower Capital.

Although love isn’t too important in One Piece, many fans are interested in whether or not Sanji will be in a relationship before the end.

Although Momonosuke had been fighting with his inner cowardice and lack of self-esteem, Momo found it within himself to take charge. With the Flower Capital safe from mass casualty, Yamato’s support and constant reassurance were vital to Momo’s self-esteem.

Yamato was also aware of Kaido’s plan, had a good idea of Onigashima’s layout, and was quickly able to make his way to the Basement Armory, where explosive gunpowder would go off, resulting in mass casualties. With his power, he could freeze the Armory, preventing an explosion with his Devil Fruit ability, stopping both Kazenbo and Big Mom from utilizing the bombs, after which he could reassure Momo from the broken interior.

At various points within the Raid, Yamato has shown great assistance during the battle against Kaido, keeping Momo safe and giving him the courage to take a stand and prevent mass casualties from occurring. Suppose Yamato had not been there to teach Momo how to effectively use his Flame Clouds and reassure him as they approached the Flower Capital. In that case, Momo may not have found the courage and strength to pull Onigashima away, even with Luffy motivating him to do so.
