One Starfield player has recently managed to pull off a spectacular vehicle kill while exploring Mars. Their achievement illustrates the combat potential of Starfield‘s sole land rover.

By popular demand, Bethesda expanded Starfield with the addition of a land vehicle back in late August 2024. Called the REV-8, the mobile machine is useful for both traveling across great distances and bringing more firepower to any outdoor encounter.

Starfield’s REV-8 Shouldn’t Be a One-and-Done Thing

Starfield’s first land vehicle may have created quite the buzz, but it should be paving the way for more traversal options and customization.

In yet another testament to the REV-8’s feature set, Reddit user TheBigTrav recently used it to pull off an incredible kill while exploring Starfield‘s rendition of Mars. The player took advantage of the planet’s low gravity to launch the rover high up in the air with its built-in thrusters, then took out a Spacer sentry overlooking a nearby base on the way down. Since the REV-8’s laser cannon does area damage, TheBigTrav’s aim didn’t need to be perfect for the shot to connect. The kill itself still appears highly impressive, not least because the player seemingly improvised on the go, having only started aiming well after they started flying through the air.

Starfield Player Pulls Off Impressive REV-8 Trick Shot on Mars

Making matters even more impressive, TheBigTrav managed to stick the landing. The footage of their spectacular trick shot surfaced on the front page of the game’s largest subreddit in late December 2024, eliciting praise from other Starfield players. The fan’s achievement serves to underline the REV-8’s combat potential, especially when it comes to clearing out low-level mobs. The land rover has infinite ammo and can fire eight shots from its laser cannon before having to reload it, which makes it a fairly efficient tool for dealing with random enemies.

While the REV-8 proved to be a fairly popular addition among Starfield players, it’s currently unclear whether Bethesda intends to expand on the vehicle in any capacity. Offering a greater variety of rovers might appeal to some players, but even the game’s sole vehicle can already be customized by visiting any Ship Services Technician in Starfield. As such, it’s dubious whether Bethesda would find additional vehicle development to be worth the effort, especially since there’s already no shortage of mods that expand on this aspect of the game.

Either way, the developer has yet to officially announce what’s next for Starfield. Bethesda Executive Producer Todd Howard previously said the company intends to keep supporting the space-faring RPG longer than any of its prior single-player games, suggesting that the Shattered Space expansion—released on September 30—was just the tip of Starfield‘s post-launch content iceberg.
