Honkai: Star Rail has officially revealed a new character named Mydei, who is expected to arrive in one of the upcoming updates. Honkai: Star Rail‘s official social media accounts have previously confirmed the arrival of another five-star character named Tribbie, and it seems HoYoverse will continue its pattern of character releases.
Since the game’s release in April 2023, Honkai: Star Rail has been adding approximately two five-star units per update. This allows HoYoverse to evenly spread their character releases into two banner cycles, each featuring a new five-star unit. Each of these banner cycles also includes a re-run character and a four-star lineup consisting of three playable units.

Honkai: Star Rail reveals a new mysterious five-star Harmony Quantum user who is expected to join the roster after Version 3.0 ends.
The official Honkai: Star Rail X account has announced a brand-new five-star character named Mydei. According to the post, Mydei, also known as Mydemius, is the crown prince of the mist-shrouded city of Kremnos, destined to walk a path drenched in blood and madness and bearing the divine authority of the Land of Fury. Mydei is a relentless warrior, unlike many others in the Honkai: Star Rail universe, with a main goal to seek the Coreflame of Strife and reclaim his homeland. However, to achieve this, he must endure countless deaths and challenge the gods to ascend beyond his mortal abilities. This personality makes Mydei a perfect fit for the Path of Destruction, which is usually reserved for powerful DPS units with decent sustain.
Honkai Star Rail Reveals New Destruction Character
Even though Mydei’s splash art and overall design hint that he’s a Fire user, the official introduction confirms that he will actually deal Imaginary damage in Honkai: Star Rail. Regarding his appearance, players have already started speculating that HoYoverse was inspired by King Gilgamesh, an antagonist from the popular Japanese science fantasy franchise Fate. Many comments express hopes that Mydei will have a similar power level to Gilgamesh.
As for Mydei’s release date, the timing of his announcement strongly suggests that he will arrive in Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.1. Tribbie and Mydei will likely be divided into two banner cycles, provided that HoYoverse does not reveal any new five-star units for Honkai: Star Rail in the next few days.
Based on their announcement order, Tribbie is expected to be featured in the first part of the update, while Mydei’s banner should drop in the second banner cycle. To learn more about Mydei’s in-game kit, players will probably have to wait for the next beta phase, which could take another week, considering that Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 is expected to launch around January.
