The Indiana Jones franchise seems to be making a significant comeback, presenting us with a well-beloved video game in the form of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. It is a well-constructed story that builds off of what Indy is known for, letting us step into the shoes of the explorer.

8 Oddities In Indiana Jones And The Great Circle
Some logic has to be sacrificed for gameplay (but remains noticeable by a large margin)!
Once the story comes to a close, we do have a few remaining questions as far as how things will shape in the future. With some characters based on historical figures and many legendary artifacts being uncovered, we are left wondering a few things once Indy finishes this new adventure.
Spoilers For The Game Ahead!

What Happened To Father Antonio Morello?
Father Ventura Learned The Truth At The End
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle happens roughly in three arcs, the first one happening entirely in Italy. There, Indy disguises himself as an American priest with the help of a local friend, Father Antonio Morello, who seems to know him from his young days.
Once Indy boards the blimp that takes him to the African portion of the game, Father Ventura, a higher-ranking priest in the Vatican, learns of Indiana’s true identity and curses Father Morello for letting him in. We don’t know what will happen next for poor Father Morello, but we doubt his chances of survival in fascist-controlled Italy.

What Was Father Ventura’s Sin?
He Seems To Be Based On A Real World Figure
Once Mussolini and his forces make it into the treasury of the Vatican, Father Ventura is adamant about preventing the military forces from taking anything out of the vault. Emmerich Voss, the main villain of the game, approaches Ventura and, at a glance, we expect the situation to escalate into violence.
Instead, Voss threatens Ventura with exposing his biggest secret, although we are never explicitly told what that secret is. It might have to do with Ventura’s sexual orientation since he is based on a historical person, but the game never makes it so explicit as to tell without prior knowledge of Ventura’s history.

Why Did The Nazis Experiment With An Entire Ship?
Smaller Experiments Would Have Worked Better
The various artifacts found in the game are all scattered around the globe, forming what is known as a Great Circle if you trace a line connecting them all. While you are meant to use all 17 stones together, you can say the corresponding Adamic word to one of the stones and get transported to a random location on Earth.

We know it to be random due to the two instances we know of people using them: one during a Nazi experiment, where an entire warship got transported into the Himalayas, and the next when Indy and Gina end up in Shanghai.
The transportation doesn’t seem that random, since no one ends up high up in the air, or in the middle of the ocean, or buried underground.
In the case of the Nazi warship, we know little of the experiment involved, but it likely opened a portal like it happens at the end of the game with Noah’s Ark, and the Nazis simply sailed through it. While we understand that experimentation with large vessels is important, it is odd that they didn’t start with smaller-scale experiments first, like sending a single soldier and seeing where they end up.

Will We See Marion In Future Games?
She Is Already Known To Appear In Indiana’s Future
A key character referenced early on in the game is Marion, Indiana’s love interest from the first movie, who also appears in the more modern iterations of the character. Marion and Indiana have a child together, one that is likely to be born while Indy is investigating the Great Circle since it all happened during 1937.
While Marion is a key character in Indiana’s life, he isn’t supposed to meet her again until 1957, and any future games will likely be set far before that. Still, we don’t know if the games will keep following the main canon or something else entirely, so there might still be hope of seeing Marion in this new video game adaptation.

How Did The Ark Work?
Could It Really Take You Anywhere?
When the concept of the Great Circle is slowly explained during the game’s plot, we learn that the different aligned ruins that form this Circle are connected, to the point that they form a uniform line around the globe. A stone was placed on each of these sites so that no one was able to gather them again and use their power.

The game directly tells you that “adventure still calls” after the credits roll. But what is there to do?
We are told that they were scattered after the great flood, most likely using the Ark that took the creatures meant to repopulate the Earth, but how did the Ark complete the journey? Once you take one stone out, the Ark is useless; it isn’t impossible to take the stones around by regular means, but with some stones being on the continent of America, a trip across the ocean seems slightly less feasible.

Will We See Ginetta Again?
Maybe The Next Game Is Set After The War
The classic enemy of Indiana Jones are Nazis, mostly due to the famous trilogy taking place before it starts. The game doesn’t shy away from mentioning the coming war, going as far as having Ginetta suggesting to Indiana that they should have their promised dinner once the conflict is over.
This might be a suggestion of when the next game could be set, specifically after World War 2. This could be an excuse for Ginetta to come back into the plot, her journalism days over, and it will give us an Indiana that has had even more adventures under his belt, maybe even having his father present.

Where Did The Ark Go?
Did Locus Go To Meet His Maker?
Myths are real in the world of Indiana Jones, and much like in Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Ark found in the Great Circle is full of mystical power. After inserting all the stones, a great flood starts pouring over our heroes, Indy teaming up with the ‘giant’ Locus to take down Voss once and for all.
Locus takes this opportunity to sail the Ark through a portal, leaving it well out of reach of mortal men. But where did the Ark end up? We can only speculate since the point is that we can’t know, but we can assume that Locus traveled to meet the higher being that engineered the Ark; whether that being is an alien or a higher form of existence, is up to anyone’s interpretation.
