Marvel Rivals Wolverine Play Takes Out Tank in Surprisingly Effective Way

Summary

  • Sacrificing Wolverine to take down tanky Vanguard heroes in Marvel Rivals is an effective strategy in opening space for teammates.
  • Fans have issues with Wolverine’s Feral Leap hitbox in Marvel Rivals.
  • Even though risky, using Wolverine’s Feral Leap in Marvel Rivals is similar to Jeff the Land Shark’s Ultimate.

A Marvel Rivals player has shared a creative but risky strategy for using Wolverine to take out some of the hardest-to-kill Vanguard heroes in the game. While the strategy requires sacrificing Wolverine, it can also take out big threats, making winning a match much easier for Marvel Rivals teammates.

Vanguards in Marvel Rivals play a crucial role on teams, usually sticking to the front lines to suck up incoming damage and making opportunities for higher-DPS teammates to set up some big moves. Taking out an opposing team’s Vanguards is a good way to disrupt their strategies, but it’s not easy to do because of their usually big health bars.

The MCU’s Long Game Could Change Marvel Rivals Character Roster

The MCU is known for its long plans and cross film story lines. One team it’s planned since Phase Two could be great for Marvel Rivals

Reddit user Lost_Top6254 has taken advantage of one particular move in Wolverine’s Marvel Rivals abilities list to take down opposing teams’ tanky Vanguard heroes, opening up space for the rest of the team to deal with the game’s less-bulky Strategists and Duelists. The strategy involves making use of Wolverine’s Feral Leap, which causes him to spring forward more than 10 meters and tackle any opponents in front of him before unleashing a barrage of blows with his adamantium claws. Although this move normally only deals damage equal to 1% of the target’s health plus a small bonus based on Rage, this player has turned it into a sacrifice play and can be seen in the video tackling Groot off the edge of the game’s map, eliminating both heroes at once.

Wolverine’s Feral Leap in Marvel Rivals Makes for a Great Sacrifice Play

Utilizing this strategy is an effective way to take out a tank easily, but it comes with risks beyond just sacrificing Wolverine to an out-of-bounds death. Many Marvel Rivals fans want changes made to Feral Leap, issuing complaints that its hitbox is small and inconsistent, which leads to Wolverine players missing their target more often than not, usually inadvertently flying over the heads of Wolverine’s opponents. While fans of the game reacting to the video have acknowledged the sacrifice play was worth taking Groot down, many were surprised that it worked at all, having had bad experiences trying to land hits as Wolverine in the past.

While it seems much harder to pull off, this strategy is very similar in nature to another character’s move that has been drawing a lot of ire from Marvel Rivals fans. Ever since the game’s launch in early December, players have been complaining about Jeff the Land Shark’s Ultimate, which allows him to swallow any number of opposing heroes in his vicinity and carry them around with him, helpless to do anything. Unlike Wolverine’s move, this move’s hitbox is large, and players have used it in a similar sacrifice play to toss multiple opponents off the map at once.
