The Vamp personality is one of the best personality types in Dragon Quest 3 Remake. It focuses on Agility and Luck, two extremely important attributes. It is important to note that only players that choose Appearance B, the female Heroine, are allowed to use Vamp. The male equivalent, Lothario, is nowhere near as good.
How to Start with Vamp Personality in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
To start with the Vamp personality in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, you’ll have to reach “The Queen’s Treachery” final personality test. To reach this specific final test, you’ll have to follow an exact response chain based on one of five possible starting questions.
Vamp Personality Quiz Answers:
This list is based off the quiz’s five starting questions. Once you know your starting question, follow the response order listed below. We tested them all, and consistently led to ‘The Queen’s Treachery.’
- Starting Question 1 – Is life boring…?: Answer in this order: No, Yes, Yes, Yes, No, Yes, Yes, No, No, Yes, Queen’s Treachery
- Starting Question 2 – …sun is the king of the sky…?: No, No, Yes, Yes, Yes, No, Yes, Yes, No, No, Yes, Queen’s Treachery
- Starting Question 3 – …adventure more of a chore…?: Exactly same as previous

How to Solve the Queen’s Treachery:
While there are several solutions to this puzzle – each of which earns you a different personality – there is only one that gets you Vamp. Once you gain control, follow these steps:
- Go through the door and speak to the queen.
- Head into the next room and speak to the King. Tell him No when he asks if you have anything to say to him.
- Speak to the King’s Chancellor on the right of the carpeted path. He will ask you two questions. Make sure to confirm both times that you should always follow the king’s orders. Here are the questions:
- Question 1: “They are still the King’s orders, and must be obeyed. Correct?” Answer: Yes
- Question 2: “Really? You truly believe the orders of a King to be set in stone?” Answer: Yes
This will unlock the Vamp personality for all female protagonists in Dragon Quest 3 Remake.
Some players have claimed that Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake allows both male and female heroes to start with the DQ3 Vamp personality. This is false. If you are playing with an Appearance A Hero, they will start with the Charmer personality, which is completely different, and not nearly as good as Vamp. Check out our guide to all the personalities in Dragon Quest 3 Remake to see how they differ.

How to Switch to the Vamp Personality in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
There are two basic methods for changing personality types in Dragon Quest 3 Remake. If you start DQIII Remake with a different personality type, and you wish to switch to Vamp, there are two methods for doing so:
- Garter – Temporary: The Garter accessory allows you to temporarily switch to the Vamp personality when equipped to any female character’s main accessory slot.
- Guns ‘n’ Buns Book – Permanent: Reading this book will permanently switch any female character’s personality type to Vamp.
All Garter Locations in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
Mini Medal Reward Garter:
Currently, the easiest way to get the Garter in DQ3 Remake is to return 5 Mini Medals to Morgan Minimann at the Mini Medal Manor in Aliahan Doing so will automatically earn you the Garter accessory.
Ghost Ship Garter Location:
To reach the Ghost Ship, you’ll need to reach DQIII Remake‘s Manoza Castle mission and collect the Mod Rod from the King. From there, you’ll need to head to Grimland and trade the Mod Rod to the old man NPC for the Boatman’s Bone. Check out our complete guide to getting Mountaincleaver in DQIII Remake, which contains everything you’ll need to know to find the Ghost Ship.
Once you’re on the ship, you’ll want to head down to the first basement level (B1). There, you’ll find the game’s second Garter in a chest of drawers.
Alefgard Garter Location 1:
The next Garter is located in Alefgard, so you won’t be able to reach it until you’ve defeated the Archfiend Baramos. Once you’re in Alefgard, you’ll find this Garter at a Secret Spot east of Damdara. You can’t start from Damdara, as the Secret Spot is across the oddly-shaped bay, and the ship is always parked to the west of town if you fast-travel there.
To reach this Secret Spot, you’ll need to sail in from the east and make your way down to the area with three long peninsulas across from Damdara. The spot you’re looking for is just east of the center peninsula. The Garter is found in the Secret Spot. If you have a Thief in your party, or a former Thief, use the Snoop spell to locate all treasure.
Alefgard Garter Locations 2:
The fourth and final Garter is located on a Secret Spot island just off the southwest coast of Sanctum island in Alefgard. From the southern end of the island where your ship will be docked, sail west until you see the small rocky island.
Once you’re on the island, you can use Snoop to see the location of each treasure. The Garter is found in the ground behind the rock in the center of the island.
How to Get Guns ‘n’ Buns in Dragon Quest 3 Remake:
There are two copies of Guns ‘n’ Buns in Dragon Quest 3 Remake. The first copy won’t become available until you’ve unlocked the ship and made it Manoza. The second copy is only available in the post-game section of DQIII Remake, which becomes available once you’ve completed Zoma’s Citadel at least once.
Monster Arena Guns ‘n’ Buns:
The first – and easiest – method of acquiring Guns ‘n’ Buns is by completing the Rank 7 Monster Arena challenge in Manoza. This is the third Monster Arena in DQIII Remake, and can only be completed once you complete Rank 1 and 2 in Romaria and Rank 3 and 4 in Ibis.
Xenlon Wish Reward Guns ‘n’ Buns:
The second copy of Guns ‘n’ Buns is only available in the post-game section of Dragon Quest 3 Remake. Once you defeat Zoma, return to the Castle of the Dragon Queen and enter the light portal in the northernmost chamber. This will take you to the special ??? section, which is a long string of previously visited dungeon levels.
Completing ??? will lead you to Cloudsgate Citadel and Citadel Tower. Xenlon is the final boss of the area, who waits at the top of Citadel Tower. If you can defeat Xenlon fast enough (35 turns in the first fight, less in each subsequent fight), you can pick a ‘wish’ from a list of rewards. The second copy of Guns ‘n’ Buns is on this list of rewards.
