Fortnite May Never Bring Back These Fan Favorite Skins

Fortnite May Never Bring Back These Fan Favorite Skins

Summary

  • Fortnite Arcane skins may never return to the game, as Riot initially only pursued them to promote the first season of its popular Netflix show.
  • Nevertheless, Riot is now reportedly looking into the possibility of bringing them back to Fortnite, but it’s still unclear how likely that is to actually happen.

The Fortnite Arcane skins may never be coming back to the popular game, a senior Riot Games official has reportedly revealed. However, Fortnite fans wanting to see these cosmetics return shouldn’t lose all hope just yet.

Fortnite‘s Arcane: League of Legends-themed Set consists of Jinx and Vi skins, as well as ten matching cosmetics. Jinx was released near the end of Chapter 2: Season 8 in November 2021, coinciding with the premiere of Netflix’s immensely popular animated series. Vi then during Chapter 3: Season 1 in January of the following year. While both cosmetics were well-received, Jinx stands out as being one of the most popular releases from Fortnite‘s Gaming Legends Series to date. Neither skin has returned to the game after being pulled in early February 2022.

Fortnite Players Can Now Unlock Another Free Skin for Winterfest 2024

Epic Games continues the Winterfest 2024 festivities with another free Fortnite skin, which is now available in-game for all players to claim.

Long-time Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR has recently taken to Twitter to reveal that the Arcane skins aren’t likely to ever return to the game, citing an unnamed Riot Games co-founder, which would be either Brandon Beck or Marc Merrill. One of them reportedly suggested that the skins were offered for an extremely limited period by design, as their inclusion in the Item Shop was solely motivated by the launch of Arcane Season 1. While the show was recently treated to its second and final season, released in three parts throughout November 2024, it’s unclear whether the thought of bringing the skins back for this occasion even crossed Riot’s mind.

Riot Reportedly Looking Into Bringing Back Fortnite Arcane Skins

Be that as it may, the League of Legends developer is now said to have been made fully aware of just how many players would like to see Fortnite‘s Arcane skins back in the in-game shop. After ShiinaBR’s original report made the rounds on social media, the same Riot official reportedly promised to talk with the LoL team about the possibility of arranging a rerun for the cosmetics.

While a potential return of the Arcane Set wouldn’t solely be up to Riot, Epic Games presumably wouldn’t be too opposed to granting Jinx and Vi another stint in the Item Shop. Nevertheless, given that licensing negotiations necessary for bringing any IP to Fortnite can take months, League of Legends fans shouldn’t hold their breath for the Arcane protagonists to return to the battle royale game.

Regardless of whether the original Arcane Set makes its way back to the Item Shop, Riot and Epic might have some new opportunities to collaborate in the foreseeable future. Riot co-founder Marc Merrill recently confirmed that even more League of Legends shows are on the way, all of which would ostensibly benefit from high-profile crossovers in the vein of Fortnite cosmetics.
