It’s not quite clear what the future holds for Fallout. It’s no secret that Bethesda is busy with The Elder Scrolls 6, and the wait for a new mainline entry in the series already extends to over nine years. While Fallout: New Vegas 2 seems like a pipe dream now, Bethesda passing the franchise off to another developer in the meantime is undoubtedly an interesting prospect and would solve the issue of allowing the games to sit dormant for years. This is purely speculation, though, and there is currently no indication that this is an option for Bethesda and the Fallout franchise at the moment.
