Dragon Ball DAIMA may have taken its time reaching some of the more exciting battles in this series, but everything heated up to a new level in Episode 12, “True Strength”. The hunt for the Demon Realm Dragon Balls rolls on from two different sides, and both find themselves locked in a critical battle with the Tamagamis that protect these rare treasures. Some of Buu’s old tendencies boil to the surface for Majin Duu, and Neva cranks up the difficulty as Vegeta ascends to a new level in Dragon Ball DAIMA.
For the first half of Dragon Ball DAIMA, Earth’s heroes found themselves separated like ships passing in the night. After finally reuniting as a group in Episode 11, they departed for Tamagami Number Two with strange new ally Neva joining their journey. Meanwhile, Dr. Arinsu and Marba’s second creation was finally being tested as Majin Duu battled Tamagami Number One. Vegeta claimed the right to take on their next challenge, but he’ll have to contend with both a Tamagami and a kraken to secure the Two-Star Demon Realm Dragon Ball.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Battles Conclude as Vegeta Transforms & Kuu Comes in Clutch
Dragon Ball DAIMA dives right back into the action as Vegeta seemed to be eaten by the massive kraken at the end of the previous episode, but Goku’s worry was premature. Vegeta avoided its mouth until a series of blasts by Tamagami Number Two connected, but one quick power-up by Super Saiyan Vegeta blasted him free and sent the kraken fleeing. While their battle raged on, Majin Duu took the fight to Tamagami Number One in the First Demon World. From unpredictable movements to a childlike silliness in each action, Duu held strong while exhibiting the same whimsy that fans have long associated with Majin Buu. Having also inherited Buu’s immaturity and impatience, Majin Duu suddenly stopped fighting to throw a tantrum and demand chocolate.
While Kuu sped off to find some, Duu narrowly dodged Tamagami Number One’s attacks and looked to be running out of energy. Once Kuu returned and tossed his brother some chocolate, Duu swallowed it like a burst of jet fuel. Duu unleashed several massive blasts and quickly took the win, but one final challenge remained. Goku had faced a high-speed shell game, and in this case Duu was up against an equally speedy mental arithmetic problem. Numbers flashed by so quickly that even Dr. Arinsu complained it was too fast to follow, but the sharp-eyed Majin Kuu kept up and whispered the surprisingly correct nine-digit solution to his brother. Dr. Arinsu now has the One-Star Demon Realm Dragon Ball, and her secret agent Glorio is still embedded with the Z fighters.

Back in the Second Demon World, legendary Namek and Tamagami creator Neva decided to give Vegeta the extra challenge these warriors desired by sending a burst of energy that powered up Tamagami Number Two. Suddenly facing a much stronger opponent, Vegeta was soon on the ropes and sank to the depths of the ocean below after a blast knocked him entirely out of Super Saiyan form. This is, as always, the most dangerous place for a Saiyan to be. Dragging himself back from the brink of defeat, Vegeta burst out of the water not only in Super Saiyan form but gathering energy to ascend even further as his hair slowly began to grow significantly in size. For the first time in Dragon Ball anime canon, Vegeta completed a Super Saiyan 3 transformation. It wasn’t named in the episode, but Goku’s surprise and the fact that adult Vegeta’s Super Saiyan 2 transformation never saw this much variation in hair size confirms this as a new level.
Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta (Mini) quickly overpowered and defeated Tamagami Number Two, but this new power wouldn’t help in his final challenge. Confronted with a classic mathematical logic story, Vegeta listened to the Tamagami’s tale of a child giving away different amounts of biscuits to different characters in a story. Vegeta, growing so angry during the explanation that he’d briefly burst into Super Saiyan form, seemed doomed when asked how many biscuits Ichiro the snake was able to eat. Vegeta shouted “zero” just before his time limit to answer expired, and he’d correctly identified this as a trick question since snakes don’t eat biscuits. Neva seemed surprised but pleased with the outcome, and Earth’s heroes were soon back in the air with two Demon Realm Dragon Balls in their possession as this series now enters a new phase. All three Tamagamis have fallen. Glorio’s plan with Dr. Arinsu has yet to be discovered, but Gomah is now aware of both her betrayal and the success of Earth’s heroes. Each individual path in Dragon Ball DAIMA is ready to converge in the First Demon World as the final third of this series begins.
