10 Best Themed Villager Houses In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Some villagers have distinctively themed houses in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Here are the the most memorable abodes, and who they belong to.
Players can unlock six different rooms between three floors in each house, but there’s no specifically designated room in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for a kitchen. Although that’s where refrigerators tend to go, Reddit user Links_Apprentice42 recently came to the startling realization that fridges might as well be considered bedroom furniture. Opening their in-game fridge seemingly for the first time, this player was surprised to be greeted with a message that read “A refrigerator … Should I change?” Like all fridges in Nintendo’s cozy Switch game, the furniture object then opened up a menu allowing the player to change into any clothing items that they had placed in storage.
Animal Crossing Player Surprised by Refrigerator’s Wardrobe Function
For fans who have followed the progress of the game’s release of content, Nintendo’s decision to make fridges behave the same as wardrobes makes a little more sense. Players have always been able to shake fruit from trees, but farming and cooking in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a more recent development. Those features arrived with the release of the game’s Version 2.0 Update in November 2021, more than a year and a half after the game’s launch. Prior to that update, there wasn’t nearly as much of a need to store food, which could explain why fridges work the way they do.
The recent reveal that refrigerators function more like wardrobes than anything players would normally keep in their kitchens wasn’t so shocking to many longtime players, who have been diving into Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s gameplay for years and made the same discovery long ago. The game is approaching its fifth anniversary and became a massive hit when it launched in March 2020, fueled by the isolation and stay-at-home orders brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Its momentum hasn’t come to a halt, either, as earlier in December, Animal Crossing: New Horizons broke another sales record, surpassing 8 million physical copies sold in the Japanese market. According to several sources, that makes it the best-selling physical game in Japanese history, breaking the record established by Pokemon Red and Green following their launch in 1996.
