Chapter 6 of Fortnite is now underway, and plenty of exciting crossovers are sure to come along with it. Season 1 of Chapter 6 is inspired by Japan, which brings an exciting character to the Fortnite battle pass. Godzilla is set to become unlockable in the battle pass on January 17, and with that date quickly approaching, it will be exciting to see one of pop culture’s most iconic monsters wreak havoc in the popular battle royale.
The addition of Godzilla continues Fortnite’s reputation for high-profile crossovers and collaborations, and after this monster stakes its claim in the game, there could be another multiplayer title perfect for such an appearance. Godzilla would be exciting in a variety of games, but MultiVersus is primed and ready to bring the movie monster to the Warner Bros. brawler.

Godzilla Could Be a Perfect Addition to MultiVersus
Warner Bros. Has a Hold on the Godzilla Franchise
The Godzilla franchise has been having somewhat of a heyday as of late. 2014’s Godzilla film starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Taylor-Johnson ignited a fresh cinematic universe. The MonsterVerse marks the return of movie juggernauts like Godzilla, King Kong, and fellow Titans from their respective canons, bringing them back to the big screen. Warner Bros. holds the distribution rights to this universe, making it completely possible for the likes of Godzilla to appear in MultiVersus somewhere down the line.
Although production company Legendary is now partnered with Universal Pictures instead of Warner Bros., the latter continues to own the distribution rights to Legendary’s MonsterVerse.
MonsterVerse Movies in Order
- Godzilla (2014)
- Kong: Skull Island (2017)
- Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
- Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
- Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024)
The character of Godzilla has been gracing theater screens for a full decade now in this new MonsterVerse franchise, and it’s surprising that it has taken this long to be featured in Fortnite. Many are anticipating the arrival of the Godzilla Fortnite skin, and with only a few weeks away, it will be intriguing to see if it proves to be a hit. If so, then it wouldn’t be too surprising for MultiVersus to jump at the opportunity to bring the “King of the Monsters” to its exclusive brawler.
MultiVersus may not boast the same popularity as Fortnite, but it has still struck a chord with many fans of various Warner Bros. IPs. From DC Comics heroes to Adventure Time to The Powerpuff Girls, MultiVersus brings some of the best franchises in the company’s roster into the spotlight. Since the MonsterVerse franchise has proven to be a solid hit in the past decade, it only makes sense for Warner Bros. to consider adding Godzilla to the continuously growing lineup.
The first Godzilla film was directed and co-written by Ishiro Honda and premiered in 1954.
Fortnite May Be Leading the Charge When it Comes to MonsterVerse Crossovers
If MultiVersus wants to take advantage of Warner Bros.’ exclusive deal with the MonsterVerse, it needs to act fast. According to recent leaks, King Kong could be coming to Chapter 6 of Fortnite in the form of a boss fight. Of course, this is merely a rumor at the moment and has yet to be officially confirmed. However, if Fortnite also adds King Kong, then MultiVersus could be missing out on a massive chance to bring MonsterVerse fans to the character brawler.
Only time will tell if MultiVersus embraces the MonsterVerse. Developer Player First Games may not be able to get a deal locked down that allows such a crossover, but with Warner Bros. having exclusive distribution rights, one would think it would at least be easier to negotiate. It may be more complicated than it seems, but regardless, it would be exciting to get to fight as Godzilla and other MonsterVerse staples in a brawler setting.
