Thanks to a variety of announcements that have been made these last couple of months, Xbox Game Pass subscribers know of at least five games coming to the subscription service in January 2025. The changes made to the Xbox Game Pass tiers mean that these new additions will only be available to those signed up for the Ultimate tier, however.
The Xbox Game Pass tier changes mean that Ultimate subscribers get exclusive access to the vast majority of day one games, while those signed up for Xbox Game Pass Standard get access to the games a little later on. This change disappointed many Xbox Game Pass subscribers, but Ultimate’s additional benefits, like online multiplayer access and exclusive discounts, may make it worth the price of admission for many Xbox gamers.

2024 has been a great year for Xbox Game Pass, with plenty of great indie games and highly-anticipated AAA titles hitting the service on day one.
Now Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers have five games to look forward to in January 2025. The first is coming on January 2 in the form of reverse-horror game Carrion, where players play as the monster. Then Road 96 is coming on January 7, followed by day one game Eternal Strands on January 28, Sniper Elite: Resistance on January 30, and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector on January 31.

The day one games will give Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers the most bang for their buck. Eternal Strands looks particularly promising; it’s an action-adventure game directed by Dragon Age‘s Mike Laidlaw that looks like it has serious Legend of Zelda vibes. Citizen Sleeper 2 will be another one to watch. The original Citizen Sleeper earned critical acclaim, and so chances are good that the sequel will also be well-received when it comes to Game Pass on January 31. Plus, Sniper Elite: Resistance could be a good pick for Xbox Game Pass subscribers needing a new co-op game to play.
Of course, these are not the only games coming to Game Pass in January 2025. It’s quite likely that next month will also bring with it some fresh updates to the Xbox Game Pass Standard tier, not to mention other games that simply haven’t been announced yet. Carrion and Road 96 were confirmed as part of the Xbox Game Pass December 2024 announcement, so subscribers shouldn’t expect any big updates on the January 2025 offerings until January 7 or after.
