Professor Hermann is a senior scientist working for SIRCAA who was introduced at the beginning of STALKER 2 as he was helping Skif enter The Zone. Even though things went south and the original plan to charge Skif’s artifact failed, the fate of Hermann was left ambiguous. However, this changes soon as Skif is reunited with Professor Hermann during the “Wishful Thinking” main mission and must decide his fate.

Stalker 2: How To Enter Pripyat Early (Updated Method)
Pripyat is one of the late-game areas that players will visit in Stalker 2, but here’s a quick method to reach it early on in the game.
Should You Kill or Spare Professor Hermann in STALKER 2?
Towards the end of the “Wishful Thinking” main mission, players find Prof. Hermann strapped to a chair with a new character, Agatha, joining in on the conversation. She explains how Hermann had planned with Faust to steal the scanner from SIRCAA and kill every last witness, including Skif. After the conversation concludes, Agatha hands Skif a gun, allowing him to choose whether to kill Professor Hermann or let him go.
What Happens if You Kill Professor Hermann?
If players choose the “He Has To Die” option, Skif will take the gun from Agatha and shoot Professor Hermann in the head. Doing so won’t have any immediate consequences and the rest of the mission will go on without any changes. There also aren’t any rewards for killing Prof. Hermann either, only the burden of hatred that lifts off Skif’s shoulders.
However, this choice will have an impact towards the end of the game, but only if you choose to go with the Ward ending for STALKER 2.
What Happens if You Let Professor Hermann Go?
If players choose the “Let Him Go” option, Agatha will put the gun aside and release Professor Hermann from his bindings. Hermann will jump up to thank his savior, only to be held back due to residual resentment within Skif. After he leaves the office, the mission will progress as normal without any immediate change. Similar to the previous choice, there aren’t any rewards for letting Hermann go.
However, there’s a chance that players may encounter Hermann down the line, and he might even extend a helping hand during a tough mission (similar to the sparing Solder choice).
There is also an additional choice with Agatha where Skif has the opportunity to inform her of Spark’s attack on SIRCAA or hide the information. Choosing any option will have the same result as Agatha is already aware of the attack and asks Skif about it only to test his loyalty to Ward’s cause.
