Square Enix producer Yosuke Saito has teased that more information about a new title will be revealed as part of the Nier series’ 15th anniversary. The Nier series has become a bit of a breakout hit in recent years, thanks to the success of Nier: Automata in 2017. Square Enix also revisited the first game in the franchise with the 2021 Nier Replicant remake. While Nier has gone on to see success in other media, like an Automata anime adaptation, novels, and concerts, some fans are wondering when the series will have another mainline entry.
Post-Replicant‘s release, Nier series creator Yoko Taro has been working on a number of smaller projects, such as the Voice of Cards series. However, there have been various hints dropped by both Taro and series producer Yosuke Saito about a potential new entry in the Nier franchise. In a recent set of interviews posted by 4Gamer.net (translated by Gematsu), various Japanese game developers shared their ambitions for 2025, Yosuke Saito included. In his column, Saito says that 2025 will be a “milestone” year, as it marks the 15th anniversary of the Nier series and that he wants to do something about it. Saito then teases it may have something to do with the “next” game or developments related to something vague, noting how he’s heard the fans’ expectations. The message concludes with Saito saying he’d be doing less direct work in a producing role, and that he’d appreciate fans for patiently looking forward to what’s on the horizon.
Previous Nier 3 Teases
