Fortnite loves to celebrate the major events on the calendar and New Years is often the time to do something different. Is there a Fortnite New Years live event though? In previous years, they’ve had minor occasions in-game. Not quite the major events we see to end seasons or Chapters, but often something. What about 2024’s final night?
In the past, Fortnite New Years has been a time when we see fireworks in-game. It isn’t one of the major Fortnite live events that move on the storyline or change things up in-game. For Christmas, we get the whole of Winterfest, with the map turning into snow for a while. Along with free presents. However, Fortnite New Years is a bit more subdued.

Is There a Fortnite New Years Live Event?
Most years, we don’t get a full live event. However, we do get one particular feature in the game. Fireworks.
Usually, for New Years Eve, we get some fireworks in the sky above the game. A nice distraction while you’re playing Battle Royale, but it isn’t exactly something you’d boot into the game for and sit in a lengthy Fortnite queue. Instead, it’s something you try to catch a glimpse of in-between fire fights. This also isn’t something they announce ahead of time though. We might get the fireworks this time, since it’s happened pretty much every year. However, something else is happening this time too.

The Fortnite New Years event is also taking place in a creative map. Millions tune in every year to watch New Years celebrations in Times Square. This year, that’s getting a Fortnite equivalent too! It’s a New Years map based around the Times Square celebration this year.
As we saw a live Fortnite Snoop Dogg concert from Times Square earlier this year, it’s fun to see a bit more of the landmark in-game. If you want to celebrate the Fortnite New Years event, you’ve got this island and the yearly fireworks in-game to watch out for.
