World of Warcraft is known for its near infinite appearance options, from hammers that blaze fire to shoulder pads flowing with earth energy. At the top of these are the few legendary appearances, awarded to dedicated players. Of these is The Thunderfury Blessed Blade of the Windseeker, once wielded by Thunderaan, the Prince of Air. This unique two-bladed sword offers a unique look to any character.

It’s been a pretty fun couple of decades.
The quest chain to get The Thunderfury Blessed Blade of the Wind Seeker can be a long one based on your luck, but we’ve got a guide to make it easier.
How To Get The Bindings Of The Windseeker
Although this quest chain can be completed on any class, only hunters, paladins, rogues, death knights, and warriors will get the achievement ‘Did Someone Say…’ when wielding Thunderfury.
In order to start the quest chain to get this legendary sword, you must first get the right and left Bindings of the Windseeker. These drop from two bosses in the Molten Core raid, Garr and Baron Geddon, Garr dropping the left side and Baron Geddon dropping the right. These can drop on any difficulty, but only have about a four percent drop chance, leaving it up to luck.
The Molten Core raid is located in the Burning Steppes in the Eastern Kingdoms. For alliance members, the fastest way is simply flying up from Stormwind; for Horde, take the Stranglethorn zepplin and fly up from there. Once in the Burning Steppes, head into Blackrock Mountain, the large structure northwest, via the main entrance.
Head inside and, once in the main room, you’ll notice a structure in lava straight ahead with a chain attached. Fly over and talk to the NPC, Lothos Riftwalker, to be immediately teleported inside.
Now that you’re in the raid, simply follow the path straight down and defeat Garr at the end of the room, then head immediately left to find Baron Geddon, who will be patrolling the area. If you’re unlucky, you will have to run this raid several times to get both bindings.
How To Start The Quest Chain
Now that you’ve gotten your bindings, head to an NPC named Highlord Demetrian in Silithus. He is located at the coordinates 29.6 10.6, at the topmost point of The Crystal Vale. He will give you your first quest, ‘Examine the Vessel‘, which will just have you using an item that he gives you.
If Highlord Demetrian isn’t showing up, try talking to Zidormi at Valor’s Rest to take you back in time.
After that, he will give you ‘Thunderaan the Windseeker‘, requiring you to return with both bindings, one Essence of the Firelord, and ten Enchanted Elementium Bars. Getting an Essence of the Firelord is easily, as it is a guarnteed drop from Ragnaros in the Molten Core raid when this quest is active, but the Enchanted Elementium Bars are a different story.
How To Get Enchanted Elementium Bars
There are two main ways to approach getting the bars you need: making them yourself, or buying them off the Auction House, both of which are costly in their own ways.
If you are looking to make them, you will first need a character in the same realm that has a level 300 Classic Mining Skill. Next, the character must learn the Elementium Bar Recipe from the Goblin’s Guide to Elementium looted from Master Elemental Shaper Krixix in the Blackwing Lair, with a drop rate of 26 percent.
Now, you must get the materials. Below is a table with each material needed and how to get them.
Material |
How To Get |
1x Elementium Ingot |
Rare drop from Master Elemental Shaper Krixix and Blackwing Technicians in the Blackwing Lair raid. Buy from Auction House, ranging from 25 to 100 gold each. |
1x Fiery Core |
Dropped from the boss Baron Geddon, and more rarely from Flameguards, Firewalkers, Firelords, and Molten Destroyers in the Molten Core raid. Buy from Auction House, ranging from 25 to 100 gold each. |
3x Elemental Flux |
Can be purchased from any Blacksmithing Trainer/Supplies NPC for three gold. |
10x Arcanite Bar |
Transmuted from 1x Arcane Crystal and 1x Thorium Bar. Must have ‘Transmute Arcanite‘ recipe on an alchemist character. Buy from Auction House, ranging from 100 to 200 gold each. |
Or, if you don’t feel doing the grind yourself, you can buy Enchanted Elementium Bars from the Auction House, but they are costly, at about 2,000 gold each.
How To Get The Thunderfury Blessed Blade of the Wind Seeker
Now that you’ve gotten all the materials, turn in ‘Thunderaan the Windseeker‘. Highlord Demitrian will immediately summon Thunderaan, which once defeated will drop the Dormant Wind Kissed Blade.
Deliver this to Highlord Demitrian and you will have your legendary weapon.
