Even though Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth only just launched at the start of this year, Square Enix has been surprisingly open about how development on the third and final part of the Remake trilogy is going. Ignoring the fact that we still don’t know what its subtitle is going to be (although it’s almost certainly Reunion), we’ve heard a decent amount about it over the past few months.

Beyond sharing some details about how the Highwind is going to be utilised in Remake Part 3, the developers have recently confirmed that the game’s story is finished and that it’s now in full production. It’s not been long since that was announced, but we’ve already got an update on how Remake’s finale is progressing.

Don’t Expect Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 News Any Time Soon

As pointed out by Twitter user Genki_JPN, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi recently shared a statement with 4Gamer regarding his goals for 2025, with his keyword for the year being “development”. Hamaguchi noted that the Remake team is putting all of its effort into the trilogy’s final entry and that development is “progressing well”.

The development team, myself included, is putting all of our efforts into the third instalment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series. Development is progressing well, but please bear with us a little longer before new information is announced. – Naoki Hamaguchi

That being said, Hamaguchi also confirmed that it’s going to be a little while until we get more news about the game, as he asked fans to hold tight “a little longer” until new information is shared. That’s not too surprising considering the fact that Rebirth isn’t even a year old yet, but it does suggest we might get an update at some point in 2025.
