Instead of taking the lazy route and just dumping some oversized Hot Wheel cars on a regular-sized track, racing game Hot Wheels Unleashed has you zooming around the kind of tracks my younger self could only have dreamed of.
Driving a wild variety of cars, including special vehicles such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ van, you’ll roar around tracks in offices, skate parks, garages and much more. The sense of scale is just amazing and it really does feel like you’re racing around a super-expensive Hot Wheels track.
Many tracks are suspended perilously in the air, and there’s little to stop you careening off the edge. But if you’re sneaky and skilled enough, you can fling yourself off one track and land on another, infuriating any human players who might be watching.
On top of that, you can actually create your own tracks and challenge other players to zoom round them. You’d think you’d have the edge since you literally built the track you’re racing on, but you could be in for a surprise.
