AMD might also be gearing up for a GPU launch at the start of the coming year when it has its press conference for CES 2025. While AMD has more or less remained mum on future releases for CES 2025, a credible leaker has provided more insights about its upcoming release schedule that also includes multiple CPU releases including the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, Ryzen 9 9900X3D, and Ryzen 5 9600.
AMD’s latest GPU release is slated to be an RDNA4 offering that might focus on the mid-range segment as opposed to enthusiast-grade offerings like its predecessors (the AMD Radeon RX 7900XT and RX 7900XTX) even as Intel turns up the heat on the budget/mid-range segment thanks to its recently released Battlemage GPUs.

What Do The Leaks Say About AMD’s Upcoming GPU?
The leak regarding the upcoming AMD GPU, the Radeon RX 9070XT comes from an established and credible AMD leaker, Hoang Anh Phu who also goes by the X username ‘@AnhPhuH‘. The leaker has also previously offered commentary around the release of the as-yet-unreleased Ryzen 5 9600 and two Ryzen 9 X3D CPUs as well as a mid-range Ryzen AI laptop chip recently.
The account has also correctly predicted the increased (+$30) price tag of the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU versus its previous generation sibling, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. This is in addition to plenty of industry-centric semiconductor news and commentary from the user, indicating they are an industry insider with credible information.
The tweet which reads “RX 9070XT = FSR4 = R9 X3D” seems to indicate that not only is the RX 9070XT expected to be in play in time for CES 2025, but that FSR4 is expected to accompany it.
The tweet also cryptically links it to the R9 X3D CPUs, which seems to be a subtle hint at the newer multicore AMD X3D CPUs expected to be released around the same time, but could also indicate that there are performance benefits to be had when leveraging AMD’s hardware together. This could perhaps point to AMD-specific performance enhancements such as AMD Smart Access Memory a few years ago.

What Is FSR4 And How Does It Affect My Gaming Experience?
FSR4 is an important addition for the chipmaker that has historically struggled against Nvidia spearheading development in AI sharpening via its proprietary DLSS enhancements. It is the next logical step for AMD’s AI sharpening tech, which already offers optional frame generation and temporal upscaling to developers currently.
FSR4 is expected to offer AI-based upscaling and AI-based frame generation, putting it on par with, or possibly slightly ahead of modern AI upscaling tech, even as Nvidia is widely expected to share its own evolution of DLSS next month during its CES keynote event.
