In a new blog post, Niantic reveals the new max storage caps in Pokemon GO. Starting December 26, the maximum Pokemon storage limit in Pokemon GO has been increased to 9,300. Likewise, the maximum item storage limit has been bumped up to 8,300. This will allow players to keep more Pokemon and items than earlier, which is something fans have been asking for quite a while now. However, it is the timing of the update that has left many surprised.
Pokemon GO Maximum Storage Cap Increase Leaves Fans Surprised
Usually, storage cap increases in the game are around major events so players are able to catch the newly added Pokemon or collect different rare variants such as shundos in Pokemon GO. However, with no major event on the radar, fans were quite surprised about the change. Many believe it is to ensure that players are able to buy special boxes during the holiday season. However, it is still crucial to note that players will still need to buy storage to reach these caps. Players start only with 300 storage, and one would need upwards of $400 worth of coins to reach the maximum capacity.
That being said, some are even surprised that other players are even filling the previous 8,800 Pokemon capacity to begin with. Players also think that this change is probably a harbinger of upcoming content in the game. That is, many think that more Pokemon backgrounds could be coming to the game in the near future, which explains the increase in item storage capacity. Not to forget, Milcery was also teased during the Gigantamax update in Pokemon GO, so that may be a nightmare for collectors in terms of Pokemon storage space considering how many unique forms it has.
