Kishimoto Just Revealed A New Wood Style User

Wood Style is one of the most powerful abilities to exist in the Naruto universe. This ability was introduced properly during the battle between Hiruzen Sarutobi and Orochimaru. It was the latter who used Edo Tensei to bring back the First and the Second Hokage, the former of which utilized the incredible power of Wood Release. Undoubtedly, Wood Release was an ability that many considered to be the pinnacle of ninjutsu, but that certainly doesn’t mean that it is unmatched. That said, its powers are definitely tremendous, especially when used by the First Hokage.

One peculiar thing about Wood Release is that there have not been many users of this power over the years. While there appears to be another user in Boruto, fans have not seen their powers at all. Now, in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, it appears that yet another powerful Wood Release user has been revealed.

The Power Of Wood Release And Hashirama’s Legacy

Wood Release is a very powerful Kekkei Genkai, and it is quite easy for the fans to see that it might just be the most powerful one of all time. This ability sees the usage of Water Release with Earth Release, and then these two natural elements are combined together, which gives rise to Wood Release. Of course, that does not mean any user ninja who possesses Water Release and Earth Release can use Wood Release. In order to be able to use Wood Release, one has to have the inherent skill to produce this jutsu. The first person that fans knew could use Wood Release was Hashirama Senju. Right up until this day, Hashirama remains to be the best user of Wood Release that the fans have seen.

With the power of Wood Release, Hashirama could control vegetation around him. He could sprout forests from absolute nowhere, and change the terrain around him completely. Wood Release was also incredibly effective against just about any type of elemental power, and, above all, this power was utilized to suppress the power of the Tailed Beasts as well. Due to its innate ability to drain chakra, the Wood Release was able to control Tailed Beasts and suppress their destructive nature, as seen multiple times throughout the series.

Seeing the Incredible powers of Wood Release, it was no surprise that Konoha wanted more Wood Release users. Of course, that was not to be because this ability was, sadly, not inherited by any of Hashirama’s offspring. That said, experimentation continued with Wood Release and Hashirama cells, which eventually led to the birth of Yamato. Yamato’s Wood Release was quite weak, and while it certainly did help keep the Nine Tails in check up to a certain level, it couldn’t do much beyond that. In terms of combat, it was a shameful comparison to Hashirama Senju, which did not make it special at all.

Aside from Hashirama, the only good users of Wood Release that fans have seen in the story are Obito and Madara Uchiha. Both of these individuals got access to Wood Release through Hashirama cells. It was Madara who tore a piece of Hashirama’s flesh during the final battle at the Valley of the End, and then cultivated it in his hideout. Eventually, he gave rise to these cells that he implanted in not just his own body, but used them to create Obito’s missing body half as well. Naturally, this gave rise to Obito being able to use Wood Release, and Madara himself could utilize this power as well.

In the case of the latter, the power was amplified to a whole new degree. He utilized Deep Forest Emergence in the Fourth Great Ninja War, and could have almost annihilated the entire Shinobi force with it, had it not been for Naruto Uzumaki. It can be said that in terms of destructive powers, Madara’s version of Wood Release was almost as effective as Hashirama’s.

Boruto Hints At Matsuri Being A Wood Release User

Matsuri Is A Powerful Shinju Who Can Sense The Trees

Fast forward to many years ahead, Madara Uchiha is dead, as are Hashirama and Obito. There should not be any users of Wood Release left in the story, aside from Yamato, and maybe individuals such as Orochimaru, who have continued the cultivation of this power. But now, the Boruto series has introduced fans to another user of Wood Release, as was hinted at in Boruto: TBV chapter 17. This user is none other than Matsuri, one of the Shinju. Matsuri is incredibly dangerous and, as was implied in the previous chapter of the story, she can sense trees around her.

Matsuri is a sensory type, which is special among the Shinju. As fans might remember, Hashirama was a sensor-type ninja, and this was largely down to his ability to utilize Wood Release and Sage Mode. Matsuri stated herself in the previous chapter that she can sense trees under the Earth, and everywhere else as well. It is through these trees that she can locate just about anyone anywhere, and this is a clear indication of the fact that she is a user of Wood Release as well.

This doesn’t surprise the fans when taking into consideration the fact that Matsuri is a Shinju based on Moegi. As fans know, Moegi is a very strong user of Earth and Water Release, and it has been stated in another databook that she can utilize Wood Release as well. Unfortunately, she has not made use of this power yet, but hopefully, she will go on to do so eventually. Through Matsuri, however, it has essentially been confirmed that Moegi is a user of Wood Release as well, because Matsuri should not have access to this power without her parent body having it.

How Strong Is Matsuri?

Matsuri Should Be An Otsutsuki Level Threat

So far, Matsuri’s Wood Release has not been seen in the Boruto series. She has made use of Earth Release, but her other skills remain to be seen still. What fans know is that she is a very good sensor-type ninja, but other than that, her proficiency with the Wood Release remains unknown. That said, given that she is a product of the Ten-Tails itself, who fans know to be a user of Wood Release, the level of her ability should be very high. In fact, her control with Wood Release might even be higher than that of Moegi and possibly even Hashirama Senju. This should not surprise the fans, given that she is an overpowered Shinju who can essentially go on to destroy the planet. Of course, fans will most definitely see more of her in combat against the likes of Konohamaru soon enough, and when that happens, the true extent of her Wood Release powers will be revealed for all to see.

As things stand, it is impossibly difficult for anyone to defeat Matsuri in combat, but one way or another, the ninjas will have to deal with this massive threat with the power to utilize Wood Release, or else the Earth will face its inevitable doom.
