Yuji is hinted to end with a certain girl in JJK’s epilogue. Here’s who.
While some characters were given more depth by diving deep into their past, others were shown way into the future, which confirmed many exciting developments in their lives. This chapter of JJK was full of exciting information, and while fans had hoped that this epilogue would be longer, at this point, they are happy with what they got to see. One of the most exciting parts of this epilogue was a small dive into the Heian era, something that fans had always wanted to see.
Why The Heian Era Matters
- The Era of The Strongest Sorcerers In JJK
- Sukuna Hails From The Heian Era
The Heian era is one of the most important time periods in the world of JJK. This is especially the case because this is the time when sorcery was at its peak. This is also the time when Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses, hails from. During the Heian era, Sukuna was at the top of his game, and completely undefeatable. Sorcerers from everywhere tested their skills against Sukuna, and used to do battle against him to sharpen their own skills. Of course, Sukuna took joy in massacring people during this era, and it was through his countless rampages that he eventually came to be known as the King of Curses and the strongest in history.
Throughout heaven and earth, he alone is the honored one. – Narrator
This time period had a lot of significance in JJK, especially because the entire idea of starting the Culling Game was to restore sorcery back to its former levels. The Heian era was always going to be extremely important, but unfortunately, fans did not get a proper look at it in the original manga. It is no surprise that readers were desperately hoping for a Heian era flashback, not only to elaborate upon Sukuna’s life, but also to give fans a glimpse of what sorcery was like back then and what kind of individuals existed at that time. Of course, the Culling Game did give fans a glimpse of some individuals from that time, but not all of them were, unfortunately, shown.
The significance of a Heian era flashback in JJK was tremendous. It is unfortunate that fans did not actually get to see anything from this time period in the story apart from small bits, and if they had, it would certainly have been a phenomenal addition, to say the least. The fact is that the author isn’t that fond of drawing flashbacks, and he has confirmed this himself in the past. Thankfully, in the JJK epilogue, he took a deep dive into the past of Sukuna and gave fans a proper glimpse of the Heian era.
How JJK Finally Gave Fans A Hint Of The Heian Era
Sukuna and Uraume’s Flashback From The Heian Era Was Finally Shown
JJK’s epilogue spanned across various characters. Fans saw the epilogue begin with none other than Ozawa, who met Yuji following the events of the Shinjuku Showdown arc. Clearly, this epilogue was set in the future, much after the conclusion of Shinjuku Showdown. Similarly, fans also got to see Nobara around the same time. This epilogue also happened after the conclusion of the Shinjuku Showdown. The epilogue that was the most shocking of all concerned Panda, especially because it was set 62 years into the future, in the year 2080, much to the surprise of the fans. Yuta’s grandchildren were revealed to the fans in this epilogue. Last but not least, fans got to see Uraume and Sukuna’s epilogue, and through that, their first proper look at these two characters from the Heian era.
Who is it that Sukuna-sama never gets cold around me? – Uraume
The epilogue begins with Sukuna, the King of Curses, coming across a beaten-down child covered in frost and ice. Uraume is then introduced to the fans properly, and it seems they have no idea about what happened around them. Uraume goes on to imply that they killed their own parents with their powers unknowingly, because they cannot control their ability even in the slightest. Much to the surprise of the fans, the King of Curses actually feels sympathy for Uraume and takes them in. On the surface, Sukuna claims that he is only taking them in as his own cooler was broken. But, deep down, it is sympathy for this child, who he relates to in some way, that compels Sukuna to shelter them. It is apparent that Sukuna and Uraume spend quite a lot of time together following this event, and at the same time, fans are made aware of the fact that Sukuna tries to get Uraume to improve their ability by attempting to keep his meat from getting spoiled, using the frost power. This is how Uraume starts gaining control over their abilities, and it is certainly an exciting addition to the story. Uraume also goes on to cook the meat for Sukuna often, which is something that he enjoys as well.

JJK undergoes a major timeskip in Gege’s epilogue.
As the story continues, Sukuna asks if they can cook humans for him. Naturally, this comment would weird out anyone, and Uraume was likely the same. However, what concerned Uraume the most was the fact that Sukuna never felt cold around them. Every person in their life was likely slaughtered due to the ice ability that they held. But, the King of Curses never had any problem being around them. To Uraume, Sukuna became the only person who could stand up to the power, and at the same time, shelter them and raise them as well. Similarly, Sukuna also wondered as to why Uraume never felt cold around him, and this carried a different meaning altogether. Everyone in Sukuna’s life likely felt that he was a cold individual, and dared not approach him. However, Uraume was clearly different, which is what made Sukuna want to protect them more. Fans then saw these two characters walk away, which marked the end of the epilogue.
JJK Still Needs More Of The Heian Era
The Heian Era Has More To Offer
While this glimpse from the Heian Era was certainly exciting for the fans to see, they certainly need more. The Heian era carries tremendous potential and fans would absolutely love it if the author decided to go ahead and write more such one-shots from long ago in the story. This period is full of intrigue and mystery, and above all, mighty powerful sorcerers. Fans would absolutely love to see more from these characters, and, most of all, Sukuna taking them on in battle. The King of Curses sharpened his own skills while absolutely ravaging through these sorcerers, and fans would love the sight if it was provided to them.
Hopefully, at some point in the future, the author decides to go back to the Heian era and elaborate upon this time. It would also bode well for JJK if Gege goes to showcase the many clans that existed back then, and at the same time, their many descendants that exist in the current timeline.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Epilogue was released with its Final Volume. JJK’s Final volume is out in Japan on December 25, 2024. The English version of the Volume will be published at some point in 2025.
