Summary
- Car choice in GTA Online involves more than price; consider factors like handling, acceleration, durability, and weaponry.
- The “best” car isn’t always the most expensive; preferences and gameplay style play a role in selecting the right vehicle.
- Different cars excel in offense, defense, speed, or handling; choose based on your preferred playstyle and in-game goals.
Jumping into the world of Grand Theft Auto Online can feel daunting at first, especially with such a wide array of vehicles to choose from. When purchasing and upgrading a vehicle in GTA Online, it’s important to consider several factors, such as handling, acceleration, durability, and weaponry. Each car has its own perks, whether it be a streamlined design for speed boosts, harder exteriors for additional armor, or better traction.
Cars are categorized based on these determining factors, so GTA Online‘s “best” car isn’t necessarily the most expensive. When considering the strengths of each model, it’s easier to conclude which ones will be worth the money. Many players find themselves settling on one particular model because it serves them well for a certain amount of time, so it’s also a matter of preference. Some players prefer faster cars for racing, while others just want a smooth joyride. Sometimes, a blend of both is more desirable.

10
Scramjet
One Of The Most Fun Vehicles To Drive
- Type: Super
- Price: $4,000,000
- Top Speed: 137.00 mph
For anyone looking to grind or partake in a lot of PvP heists or shootouts, the Scramjet isn’t the go-to choice, but it’s a fun car to own. Its speed boost lasts longer than the Vigilante, and it can jump over obstacles and large gaps. Its speed boost allows it to approach enemies stealthily and gives them little time to react before ambushing them with gunfire.
It’s more geared towards offense than defense, but as long as the player using it has some degree of handling skill, it can sneak around undetected and aid with a miraculous escape. It’s a good-looking car, but it doesn’t have much to offer aside from an entertaining drive.
9
Armored Kuruma
A Car Everyone Finds Themselves Going Back To
- Type: Sports
- Price: $905,000 (Base Model)
- Top Speed: 121.50 mph (Post-Customization)
The Armored Kuruma can be spawned and retrieved at any time, unlike other armored vehicles. It’s especially good for newcomers, since the base model is affordable. Players who own an Armored Kuruma and a heavy utility vest will find it difficult to die during heist missions. Many members of the GTA community would argue that the Armored Kuruma is Online‘s old reliable.
It’s useful during the Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid, notably for the aggressive approach, as it allows players to go in guns blazing. It comes highly recommended for missions where a lot of NPCs are shooting at once, and it can withstand a hefty amount of gunfire before sustaining too much damage. Aside from missiles, the Armored Kuruma is basically NPC-proof.
8
Nightshark
A Great Defensive Car For Dealing With Griefers
- Type: Off-Road
- Price: $1,245,000
- Top Speed: 104.75 mph
The Nightshark is a defensive car, so it isn’t the greatest for gunning down lots of NPCs in one fell swoop. However, it has an explosive resistance that rivals the Insurgent, and it’s exceptionally fast with good handling. It’s a good investment for dealing with Griefers, even if the machine guns up front aren’t very effective. It would probably yield better results to leave off the armor for the windows and use personal weapons instead.

Players looking for cheap yet fast cars in Grand Theft Auto Online should have a look at this selection.
The Nightshark is well-balanced and works well with sticky explosives, which can be attached to the front bumper and detonated manually. It’s a decent counter for the Oppressor MK 2 as well, which — as many GTA fans already know — can be a pain to deal with.
7
Buffalo STX
One Of The Better Muscle Cars
- Type: Muscle
- Price: $2,150,000
- Top Speed: 130.79 mph
The Buffalo STX is at the top of the Muscle class, even rivaling some of the sports-class cars. It has respectable top speed and acceleration, while its braking power is marginally higher than the Hellfire. Its stable handling can be compared to the Dominator GTX, which means it won’t spin out while turning corners at high speeds.
The Buffalo STX is another good defense car against the Oppressor MK 2, even if it shows up as a special blip on the map if it’s weaponized, which can take the element of surprise out of a chase. Many players prefer the Virtue for acceleration, but the Buffalo STX is arguably the best all-round Muscle car.
6
Karin Futo GTX
Drives Well Even Without Upgrades
- Type: Sports
- Price: $1,590,000
- Top Speed: 112.34 mph
One of the best drift cars in GTA Online, the Karin Futo GTX has rear-wheel-drive capabilities that prevent it from spinning out on sharp turns. By installing Low Grip Tires, players can perform longer drifts, but the car still drives well even with the standard specifications. All of its modifications are just extra bonuses.
The GTX model has a lot more customization options that craft the perfect drift build. In addition to the Low Grip Tires, players can add Stock Brakes, Lowered Suspension, Race Transmission, and Turbo Tuning.
5
Vigilante
The Go-To For High-Speed Chases And Heist Missions
- Type: Super
- Price: $3,750,000
- Top Speed: 147 mph
The Vigilante is popular for several reasons. It’s one of the fastest vehicles in the game, it features a rocket boost for quick bursts of speed, it’s equipped with machine guns for combat scenarios. And its unique aesthetic, reminiscent of the iconic Batmobile, appeals to the nostalgia of DC fans.

These purchasable items in GTA Online may look cool but are ultimately a waste of money.
It’s expensive, and it’s not as durable as some other cars. The Vigilante is great for high-speed chases and getting around the map in the blink of an eye. In heist missions, the Vigilante gives players the edge in both speed and firepower, even if it can be hard to handle as a result of how fast it goes.
4
Ocelot Virtue
Can Withstand High-Speed Ramming
- Type: Super
- Price: $2,980,000
- Top Speed: 119 mph
The Ocelot Virtue is one of the best non-weaponized cars in GTA Online, and players can get it for free upon successful completion of the Last Dose missions. It can reach a decent top speed, handles like a dream, and the acceleration is unmatched.
This near-perfect vehicle can withstand a bump from an enemy. If another car rams into the front of it at top speed, it won’t total out, and it won’t deal more damage than a few scratches. It will, however, launch the other car into the air. Especially with the Imani Tech armor plating, the Ocelot Virtue becomes a must-have for peeling out of a dangerous situation. It’s the perfect car for anyone that wants to be left alone in public lobbies, as they can exit a shootout quickly.
3
Toreador
The Best Choice In The Amphibious Class
- Type: Sports Classics
- Price: $4,250,000
- Top Speed: 135.25 mph
The Toreador is distinguished by its ability to switch between a land vehicle and a submarine. It doesn’t have a conspicuous blip on the map, so it’s the perfect choice for flanking Oppressor MKs. The Toreador also withstands the Deluxo and the Sparrow, and it’s effective against both jets and Imani-bound vehicles.
The Toreador can be used in Heists. It’s explosion-resistant, features unlimited missiles and a quick recharge boost, and it can even be stored in the Kosatka for convenience. It isn’t very bullet-resistant, however, so a few neat shots through the front windows will kill the driver. Other than that, it’s a worthwhile vehicle even for the steep price.
2
Progen T20
One Of The Best All-Round Cars To Serve Any Purpose
- Type: Super
- Price: $2,200,000
- Top Speed: 130.63 mph
Especially when it was first released, the T20 was undoubtedly the best car in the game. Rockstar has since released many contending vehicles, but the T20 remains a faithful choice for anyone looking for an all-round decent car. The handling can be a little finicky, but once players get the hang of it, the car becomes lethal.

1
Krieger
Rockstar’s Highest Rating For Handling
- Type: Super
- Price: $2,875,000
- Top Speed: 132.68 mph
The Benefactor Krieger is a reasonably priced Super car that’s helpful for missions involving long travel. It can produce a 0.57 lap time, which is faster than other cars in the same category. The Krieger has a bulletproof rear, so completing missions with pesky NPCs firing from behind has never been easier. It also has no window at the back, so there’s no fear of the glass being shot out.
The Krieger can be equipped with bulletproof tires, which prevents NPCs from popping them. It handles better than any other car, which is an added bonus for a car that reaches such a respectable top speed. The Krieger pretty much does it all, and for a more affordable price than some of the other leading cars in the game.
