  • Squid Game Season 2 premiered on Netflix on December 26.

Activision has confirmed that the highly-anticipated Call of Duty x Squid Game collaboration will be released on January 3, featuring new limited-time modes, weapon blueprints, operator skins, and more. Call of Duty‘s collaboration with Squid Game was announced earlier this month and will now be released just one week after the launch of the show’s second season, which is available to stream right now on Netflix.

While it’s not quite on par with the many Fortnite collaborations, Call of Duty‘s Squid Game team-up is just the latest collaboration to be featured in Activision’s hit first-person shooter. In recent years, Call of Duty has collaborated with various horror franchises, including Scream and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, hip-hop artists such as Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj, and even world-famous footballers like Lionel Messi. There’s likely many more collaborations to come in Call of Duty‘s life cycle, and the next one is right around the corner.

Call of Duty Confirms Squid Game Collaboration Release Date

In a new trailer, Activision confirmed that the previously announced Call of Duty x Squid Game collaboration will officially be released on Friday, January 3. According to the trailer’s description, the collaboration will include new Squid Game operator skins, weapon blueprints, limited-time modes, and more. While there’s nothing official surrounding which limited-time modes will be included in the collaboration, the trailer appears to show the famous ‘red light, green light’ mode that was featured in the show. The premise is simple, players must run from one end to another, but they must stop moving and stand perfectly still whenever they hear the words “red light,” or risk being eliminated.

The trailer also gives fans an extensive look at the many Squid Game skins coming to Call of Duty as part of the collaboration. From the iconic red jumpsuits to the mysterious figure dressed in all black (who is known as the Front Man), it looks like Call of Duty players will be able to get their hands on a variety of different cosmetic items during the collaboration. Although it’s yet to be confirmed exactly how players will be able to get their hands on the upcoming skins, there will likely be numerous Squid Game bundles available in the Call of Duty store from January 3, with new weapon blueprints, operator skins, and more.

After the first season premiered to rave reviews back in 2021, Season 2 of Squid Game finally hit Netflix on December 26 with seven brand-new episodes now available for fans to stream. The highly-anticipated second season is set three years after the events of Season 1 and sees Seong Gi-hun return to the deathly games with a new set of participants. While there was a massive three-year gap between Season 1 and Season 2, a third and final season is set to premiere in 2025.
