Digital Eclipse’s Dan Amrich explains how Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind ties into 2023’s Once and Always Netflix reunion special.
Much like the previous Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind patch, update 1.0.4 makes changes to movement. Rangers now move faster, so walking, dashing, and fighting feel smoother, along with improvements to grabbing mechanics and attack speeds. The Dodge move now has no cooldown, giving players more freedom in battle. However, the invulnerability during a Dodge has been reduced to just the initial frames for balance, except in Easy mode, where it remains fully invulnerable. Additionally, Rangers can now chain Rising Strikes from more states and even drop enemies mid-grab by Dodging.
The update also makes some changes to enemy behavior. Time Disruptors are now easier to hit and destroy, especially in Easy mode. For players struggling to complete Rita’s Rewind goals, it’s worth noting that food pickups are now dropped more evenly. Moreover, Hard mode has been adjusted so enemies have the same health as in Normal mode but deal much more damage. Players can now switch between NPC Rangers at the Juice Bar and enjoy updated, localized dialogue on arcade machines.
The Zord and Megazord sections have also received some helpful updates. Players will now take less damage from machine gun fire, and falling into a pit no longer causes players to lose a life. Boss battles now adjust their difficulty depending on how many players are involved, and Megazord health power-ups have been added to make fights more balanced. Regarding online play changes, players can now start from any level if they have unlocked Rita’s Rewind Green Ranger, while matchmaking will now require players to have the latest update for the game.
The update also boosts overall stability and performance, making gameplay smoother. While Digital Eclipse continues to refine the gameplay, old-school beat ’em up fans can already jump into the game and experience update 1.0.4 changes.
