Pokemon TCG Pocket has seen a steady stream of events since it launched back in October 2024, offering players a variety of ways to participate and earn limited-time rewards. From Wonder Pick events allowing players free picks to Emblem events rewarding players for participating in battles, Pokemon TCG Pocket seems to constantly have some event for players to enjoy. One of the best event types Pokemon TCG Pocket has been the game’s promo drop events, such as the Lapras EX drop and Venusaur drop events that occurred in November and December 2024, respectively.
During these events, players could earn the opportunity to open a limited-time promo pack containing one of five cards by competing in battles against AI opponents. Pulling a rare Lapras EX or full art Venusaur card was an exciting part of these events, making them one of the better offerings Pokemon TCG Pocket has seen to date. However, the game has thus far skipped out on the perfect opportunity to combine the fun of opening a bonus promo pack with the holiday season, since the Pokemon TCG is home to many popular holiday-themed card art designs.

If there is one thing that stands out about Pokemon TCG Pocket’s latest pack, it’s a specific card that could be a game changer in the right hands.
Pokemon TCG Has Tons of Holiday-Themed Card Art Available
The Pokemon TCG has a 25-year history of card art to pull from in Pokemon TCG Pocket, and many of its available cards have been a nostalgic blast for players. Among some of the most popular artwork throughout the series’ history is that of special holiday-themed promo cards, such as Neo Revelation’s Jumpluff or Expedition’s Flaaffy. These cards feature scenes of their respective critters engaging in festive activities, such as two Jumpluff building a snowman or Flaaffy sitting under a Christmas tree.
Particularly popular in recent years have been the Pokemon TCG‘s advent calendars, which have been a great source for holiday-themed card art. One fan-favorite promo from these calendars was the Delibird from the Sword and Shield: Chilling Reign set, which features the critter carrying a handful of Christmas gifts. Unfortunately, none of these cards have made their way to Pokemon TCG Pocket yet, and the perfect opportunity to add these cards would have been this holiday season.
Pokemon TCG Pocket does have a daily log-in holiday event currently ongoing where players can earn rewards like Pack Hourglasses and bonus Mythical Island packs, as well as a Winter Holiday Frame backdrop from completing event missions.
Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Holiday Events Can Go Bigger in 2025
With Pokemon TCG Pocket only being a couple of months old, there is still a lot of room for the game to grow in the next year. A big source of this growth could be in the game’s holiday event offerings. While events themed around particular critters or in-game types seem to be a regular occurrence, leaning into the spirit of the season with different events themed around annual holidays would be a great way to celebrate them in-game, the way other mobile Pokemon titles such as Pokemon GO and Pokemon Unite do. Events with seasonally-themed promo cards could include more than just winter holidays like Christmas, but expand to feature events for Halloween, Lunar New Year, and the Spring Equinox as well.
Pokemon TCG‘s Trick or Trade set offers some fantastic options for Halloween promo cards, and the 1st Anniversary Simplified Chinese Collector’s Box has some cards that would be perfect for a Lunar New Year’s promo event. Although the events that Pokemon TCG Pocket has featured so far are hard to complain about since they offer players an easy way to earn extra goodies, future events could be made even more exciting by leaning into the popularity of seasonally-themed promo cards.
