Summary
- A Pokemon GO player caught a shiny and nundo Galarian Zigzagoon, rarer than a shundo.
- The player’s unique catch is special due to the zero IVs and its regional variant status.
- The Galarian Zigzagoon was introduced in 2020 and has a shiny variant from May 2021.
A Pokemon GO player has gotten an incredibly rare Galarian Zigzagoon that’s shiny and nundo. Pokemon GO players always try to capture the most powerful pocket monsters in Niantic’s game. But that’s not all, as trainers also try to get rare variants, or collect specific Pokemon, making their Pokedex records even more unique.
Previously, a Pokemon GO player shared their incredible Unown collection with all the letters as Best Buddy and Lucky. The feat was impressive, as it requires patience to upgrade the Buddy level of each Pokemon, the friendship level with players to get Lucky Trades, and to catch all the Unown. When it comes to shiny critters, there’s no shortage of stories like the trainer who got a Shadow Dratini with perfect IVs. As well as being an impressive acquisition for being a Shadow Pokemon, the fact that it has maximum stats makes it the most powerful variant of the Gen 1 monster available in the game. This time, another trainer has obtained a super rare Pokemon and shared the feat with the community.

Redditor WhitetailBuckdeer96 added to their Pokemon GO collection a Galarian Zigzagoon that is both nundo and shiny. With the caption “Is it rarer than a shundo?” they show a screenshot of the monster captured two days before Christmas, revealing that its attack, defense, and HP IVs are zero. While Pokemon with perfect IVs are called hundo, those that are also shiny have been named shundo; the ones with zero stats get the nickname “nundo.”
Pokemon GO Player Captures a “Shnundo” Galarian Zigzagoon
Other Redditors used the comments section to reply that they consider the catch made by the OP to be rarer than a shundo. One player explained that while trainers get shundo Pokemon from raids and trade with IVs between 10/10/10 and 12/12/12, the likelihood of finding a “shnundo,” a critter that is shiny and nundo, is “totally random.” WhitetailBuckdeer96’s Zigzagoon is made even more special because it’s the regional variant, which was introduced with the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield and has a different design from its Hoenn counterpart.
Galarian Zigzagoon was one of the additions that Pokemon GO made in 2020 with the start of the Throwback Challenge Champion event. For its part, the shiny variant debuted in May 2021 with the Luminous Legends Y event. In 2024, players hatched Galarian Zigzagoon in 7 km eggs during the Max Out Finale and found it in the wild on Yamask Research Day. For players who want to try their luck, it has been possible to encounter the Gen 8 Pokemon in the wild since last year.
