A classic Pokemon comes to life in the real world thanks to a fan who created an animatronic replica of Magnemite. The build serves as a lifelike recreation of one of the oldest creatures in the Pokemon franchise and elicited a heap of praise from other fans due to its detail.
Magnemite is an Electric and Steel-type Pokemon first introduced in the original Pokemon Red and Blue on the Game Boy, and appears as a floating, metallic orb with two large magnets as limbs on each side. While it has always appeared as a seemingly robot-like metallic creature, it did not attain the Steel secondary type until Generation 2 with Pokemon Gold and Silver.

Now, the Pokemon comes to reality after Reddit user Worldwarallen created a lifelike animatronic replica of Magnemite, complete with limbs that can move via remote control and a strong attention to detail. The user shared a video to the official Pokemon subreddit, showing off their creation as they hold it in one hand and move its limbs with the remote, moving them in an alternating pattern.

The creation garnered praise from other fans in the comments, who turned up to compliment their attention to detail and leave some suggestions about things they could add to improve it or make it more like its in-game counterpart. Some suggested using a magnetized base to give it the appearance of levitating like it does in the Pokemon video games, or to add lights to illuminate its face.
According to the creator, they have more plans to improve the build still, such as another servo on the base of the build attached to a clear tube to emulate the appearance of it floating above the user’s hand. The creator has experience in the field of animatronics previously, as they previously recreated the Flying-type Pokemon Pidgey, which can move its head and sit on the user’s arm like a perch.
