Nintendo has announced that its newest Mario Kart and Animal Crossing-themed LEGO sets will be released on January 1, 2025. Nintendo first worked with LEGO to introduce a Mario-themed set in 2020, which was part of the Super Mario Bros. franchise’s 35th anniversary, allowing fans to build their own levels. Since then, LEGO and Nintendo have frequently collaborated on various themed sets based on the Super Mario property.
Super Mario Bros. isn’t the only Nintendo franchise that LEGO has worked on, with the partnership expanding to include sets based on Animal Crossing. The first Animal Crossing LEGO sets were released in March 2024, with a second round being released in August. The Animal Crossing sets include popular characters like Isabelle, Marshal, and Tom Nook among other villagers. The collaborations are continuing next year, as Nintendo and LEGO have announced that new Mario Kart and Animal Crossing sets will release on New Year’s Day 2025.

The Able Sisters Clothing Shop is the biggest and most expensive of the themed set trio. All three sets will also be released on January 1, 2025.
Many of the Mario Kart sets are compatible with the large LEGO Mario, LEGO Peach, and LEGO Luigi figures, where they have special interactions and sound effects when they are driving vehicles. Mario can also interact with various parts of the set, such as having a special reaction when he touches an item box. The Toad’s Garage set specifically comes with a custom car that allows the builder to change its horn and engine sounds when the LEGO Mario, Luigi, or Peach figures are put in the driver’s seat too.
