Summary
- Version 5.4 of Genshin Impact will introduce an Electro Saurian with teleportation as its exploration ability.
- Players will need to wait until Version 5.4 to receive the final Saurian ability in Natlan.
- Version 5.4 is expected to add Iansan to the playable cast, mimicking the Electro Saurian’s blink ability.
A recent leak from the Genshin Impact community has revealed that the Electro Saurian’s exploration ability will be teleportation, rather than a charge. Since Inazuma in Version 2.0, Genshin Impact has always attempted to add unique exploration gimmicks to each region of Teyvat. For Sumeru, it was the Four-Leaf Sigil; for Fontaine, it was underwater content. For Natlan, the developers decided on Saurians, which offer six different ways of interacting with the environment to solve puzzles or traverse difficult terrain.
As of Version 5.2, Genshin Impact has introduced five out of the six Saurians of Natlan. Given that Version 5.3 will be skipping a new map expansion, players will need to wait until Version 5.4 to receive the final Saurian ability. In addition to introducing Mizuki to Genshin Impact, Version 5.4 is expected to add Iansan to the playable cast as well. Much like other Natlan characters, Iansan will be able to mimic a Saurian’s exploration ability via her Elemental Skill. Since she is from the Collective of Plenty, Iansan will mimic the Tatankasaurus, the Electro Saurian native to southwestern Natlan.

Rumor: Genshin Impact Leaks Popular Character’s Banner Rerun for Version 5.4
A recent Genshin Impact leak reveals that a popular 5-Star character from Fontaine could be getting a rerun on the Event Banners in Version 5.4.
As revealed via Mew Leaks, the Tatankasaurus will be able to blink or teleport across a distance via its exploration ability. While this makes most players think of Keqing, there is technically no true teleportation ability in Genshin Impact just yet. In Keqing’s case, she becomes invisible during her blink ability, while in Alhaitham and Chiori’s case, it’s just an aerial dash. While the leak doesn’t clarify if players will be able to blink through walls, having such an ability outside Natlan via Iansan (and Varesa) would potentially break a lot of the open-world puzzles in Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact: All Natlan Saurians and Their Abilities
- Tepetlisaur – Geo (Climbing)
- Yumkasaur – Dendro (Grappling)
- Koholasaur – Hydro (Swimming)
- Qucusaur – Pyro (Flying)
- Iktomisaur – Cryo (Jumping)
- Tatankasaurus – Electro (Teleporting)
It should be noted that the Tatankasaurus could have some type of secondary ability, much like how an Iktomisaurus can scan Nightspirit Graffiti, or how a Yumkasaurus can grab and shoot Flamegranates. While the horns of a Tatankasaurus made most players assume that the Electro Saurian would have a charge or ram ability, it would seem that the developers opted to embrace the Electro fantasy instead. As a result, Varesa and Iansan in Genshin Impact will almost certainly have a blink ability as part of their gameplay. Though their weapon types aren’t yet datamined, an earlier rumor pointed towards Iansan being a 4-Star Electro Polearm.
If the Electro Saurian is indeed slated for Version 5.4, then the update will add a new Natlan zone to Genshin Impact, taking players to the Great Volcano of Tollan. However, players will need to wait a bit longer for Varesa, as recent information places her and Ifa for a playable debut in Version 5.5. Version 5.4 is scheduled to launch on February 12, 2025.
