Best AoE DPS In Honkai: Star Rail

Assessing a character’s prowess in dealing single-target or AoE damage in Honkai: Star Rail makes all the difference when deciding who to use in which game modes. For example, content such as the Memory of Chaos allows Hunt units in HSR like Boothill and Feixiao to truly shines, but Pure Fiction demands characters who hits multiple enemies at once.

As an opposite to Hunt’s single-target specialty, Erudition characters in HSR are some of the best in unleashing AoE damage. However, units from other Path can be good at this too. To summarize, here are the best AoE DPS in Honkai: Star Rail.

Herta (4-Star)

The Kuru Kuru Queen is easily one of the best DPS in Honkai: Star Rail. She’s likely the first Erudtion character players get in the game since she’s given away for free when Trailblazers complete some Simulated Univer stages.

The Emanator of Erudition hits in an AoE with her Skill, Ultimate, and follow-up attack (FUA). In terms of damage, she’s not the best, but her follow-up and multi-hit system can work well in content that specifically asks for these abilities.

Himeko

Another OG Erudition character in Honkai: Star Rail is Himeko. Like Herta, Himeko hits all enemies with her Skill, Ultimate, and follow-up attacks. But unlike Herta, Himeko has better damage and her FUA can trigger more often.

Players can even play Himeko in other playstyles such as making her a Super Break DPS with the Harmony MC. All in all, this Standard Banner character in HSR passed the test of time despite many more powerful DPS released over the versions.

Yunli

Yunli is the offensive sister of Clara. Her gameplay revolves around her Counter ability, which triggers when she gets hit. Her Counter hits one main target and up to two adjacent targets, meaning she typically hits in a three-target AoE each time she retaliates.

With Yunli’s high damage and good AoE, she becomes one of the best characters to use in all cases. Yunli works well in all three end-game content, namely the Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, and Apocalyptic Shadows in Honkai: Star Rail.

Imbibitor Lunae

Dan Heng IL may be a Destruction character, but he doesn’t have any survivability in his kit, unlike units like Clara, Yunli, or Firefly. He’s also not a Erudition character, yet his AoE is one of the best there is.

Imbibitor Lunae’s enhanced Basic Attack and Ultimate both hit three targets at once, and he has one of the highest DPS in the game. At first, he struggles with his SP requirement, but as more supports become available, his SP demand is easy to handle.

Argenti

Argenti is arguably one of the best Erudition characters in HSR. He truly shows what someone who specializes in AoE hits should look like. He has a max Energy of 180, but he can cast his Ultimate when he has 90 Energy and 180 Energy. At 90 Energy, Argenti’s Ultimate deals far lower damage, but it still hits all enemies, making it a great move to destroy small enemies quickly.

The Knight of Beauty’s constant AoE hits are great for enabling Jade’s Debt Collector state.

Firefly

Although her specialty is Break Effect in Honkai: Star Rail, Firefly is excellent in dealing AoE damage, since her attacks in the Combustion Mode always hit up to three enemies. Her mechanics also apply Fire Weakness on her target, making it easy to trigger a Weakness Break.

Although SAM is a Destruction character and isn’t as proficient as Rappa in hitting AoE, her damage is above sufficient to destroy a horde of enemies. Just make sure to bring core supports like Harmony MC, Ruan Mei, and Lingsha or Gallagher.

Rappa

The Dazzling Ninja is part of the Break Effect DPS roster in Honkai: Star Rail. Although in the lore she follows the Path of the Hunt, in in-game battle, she has the Erudition Path. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Rappa is incredible in dealing AoE damage.

Even though Imaginary isn’t the best attribute for Break DMG, Rappa’s ability to reduce Toughness regardless of the enemy’s weakness, and the fact she can do this to all enemies, makes her damage stacks up real quick. Like Firefly, players must bring the correct supports for Rappa as she doesn’t work well alone.

Jade

When it comes to AoE damage-dealing, Jade is undoubtedly one of the best. Jade performs a follow-up attack in Honkai: Star Rail when she gains enough stack, dealing large damage that gets larger the longer the battle goes and the more enemies she hits. This makes her an excellent unit for the Pure Fiction game mode.

For Jade to fulfill the FUA requirements, she must be paired with another unit that hits in an AoE. One of the best teammates for Jade in Honkai: Star Rail is Argenti, who can keep hitting all enemies with his two-tiered Ultimate system.

Acheron

Nihility characters are usually the pinnacle of debuffers, but not Acheron. Instead, Acheron demands her teammates to place debuffs so that she can unleash insanely powerful hits with her Ultimate.

The Emanator of Nihility’s Ultimate hits in an AoE that’s not only great in range but also has crazy damage. Since she doesn’t depend on Energy to cast this move, players can push for as many Ultimate as possible by investing in things like Acheron E2, her Light Cone, Jiaoqiu support, and turn-advancers like Sparkle.
