Alright, rockstar, you’re up. I’ve got Cherry, what say you?
“Um… hi there, kyu! I was just getting ready f- ACK! Oh no… is my face… again… I need a mirror, pronto! Or… You , could you fix it for me?” Mimikyu asks.
They’re basically the Pokemon stand-in for Blanca, as the video shows the player drawing them a variety of new faces to choose from.
They made the drawing animation by reversing a video of them erasing the art in Paint.NET.
There’s An Entire Series Of Animal Crossing x Pokemon On Beefu!’s YouTube
This is part 21 of a series they’ve been running since they opened their YouTube channel just ten months ago. It’s an incredible project, and I can’t help but come away disappointed that it doesn’t actually exist. C’mon Nintendo! You’re sitting on a goldmine here.
My favourite episode is easily part nine, in which Cubone — wearing a stripy jumper no less — goes fishing for a Magikarp while Pikachu waves from the distance. It’s far too cute.
They also made one for Haunter (the greatest Ghost type), who turns around to jumpscare the player with their iconic tongue out, bulging eyes expression, before quickly breaking into laughter; “Boo! Thought I couldn’t see you?”
They’re so charmingly mischievous, cracking spooky jokes about ghost stories and urban legends, before inviting us to hang out at Duskull’s. Again, I wish this game was real, because I’d absolutely take them up on that offer.
The one question I have coming away from these videos is what evolution would look like in this world.
Beefu! has episodes dedicated to Chandelure, Pumpkaboo, Luxray, Squirtle, Charizard, Bulbasaur, Psyduck, Wooper, Meowth, Cyndaquil, and so many more.
They’re very brief, the longest being just over a minute, so if you have a moment this Christmas, they’re well worth a watch.
