Niche support is a common trend in HoYoverse gacha games such as Honkai: Star Rail. These are characters who excel in supporting one type of playstyle but fall off when the meta shifts. For instance, Fugue is a major niche for Break DPS, where she shines as long as Break DPS is currently relevant in the meta.
Naturally, as a Break DPS support, Fugue team in Honkai: Star Rail will include some powerful DPS who utilizes Break Effect or Super Break. Here are some examples.

Fugue + Break DPS + Ruan Mei + Lingsha
Adding Fugue to the best Supports like Ruan Mei and Lingsha will greatly improve the performance of any Break DPS you add to this team. Powerful Break DPS units include Firefly, Rappa, or Boothill. Rappa and Boothill are both crazy good in one part of Honkai: Star Rail endgame, while Firefly is a strong Break DPS in any game mode.
During combat, Fugue provides an Exo Toughness on enemies to help Lingsha and the Break DPS to break enemies’ Toughness multiple times dealing similar DMG. On the other hand, Ruan Mei massively increases the team’s Break DMG by providing a lot of Break Effect and Toughness Effectiveness to the team. She also helps Lingsha and the Break DPS to ignore a portion of enemies’ RES, which further proves why she’s the best Break Support in Honkai: Star Rail.
Team Roles
- Fugue: Support, buffer, debuffer, Exo Toughness, Super Break
- Break DPS: Main DPS
- Ruan Mei: Support, buffer, debuffer

Fugue + Xueyi + Harmony Trailblazer + Gallagher
Being a good Support like Fugue allows her to be in many teams, including F2P teams. Other than Fugue, this team has the Harmony Trailblazer and two more 4-star units in Honkai: Star Rail. The team takes advantage of the Super Break buffs provided by the Trailblazer and Fugue where every time a unit breaks the enemy’s Toughness there’s a chance to trigger Super Break twice.
Xueyi operates as the main Break DPS that takes advantage of Imaginary Trailblazer and Fugue’s buffs and debuffs. As for Gallagher, he operates as a healer. Not only that, but Gallagher is also known for his good DMG and ability to break enemies’ Toughness if they are weak to Fire.

Fugue + Ruan Mei + Harmony Trailblazer + Lingsha
When you have a team with Ruan Mei, Harmony Trailblazer, and Fugue, you don’t really need a Break DPS anymore since they’re capable of making any character look good with their buffs and debuffs. It’s definitely doable when you have a lot of Break Effect buffs on top of a lot of extra utilities like adding an Exo Toughness to the enemy and allowing the team to trigger Super Break DMG multiple times so easily.
When it comes to who will lead the Break DMG, it’s none other than Lingsha. Lingsha is an AoE DPS who’s disguised as a healer in Honkai: Star Rail. In this Fugue team, Lingsha will become an amazing Break DPS who will capitalize on all the team’s efforts while providing some much-needed sustainability.
