Amid the 2024 holiday season, Final Fantasy 14 pulled back the curtain on its annual Heavensturn event, which will be themed around the upcoming Year of the Snake. Final Fantasy 14 players can participate in the Heavensturn festivities starting on New Year’s Eve and through mid-January, and earn new cosmetic rewards for their collections.
Held yearly throughout Eorzea, Heavensturn is the Final Fantasy 14 equivalent of the real-world Lunar New Year festivities, with different animal mascots to match. In the 2024 edition of Heavensturn, held to celebrate the Year of the Dragon, Final Fantasy 14 players were granted a chocobo chick minion that came with decorations inspired by Seiryu, one of the Four Lords of Far Eastern legends, and a trial boss in the Stormblood expansion. Compared to other story-driven quests in Final Fantasy 14, the Heavensturn event quests are usually comical and lighthearted, and only take a few minutes to complete from start to finish.

The Heavensturn rewards that players can earn from completing the limited-time quest are two housing items called the Oriental New Year’s Meal and the Springtide Fan Stand, plus a new minion called the Great White Tsuchinoko. This serpentine, mochi-covered minion is based on the Great Serpent of Ronka, one of the most popular minions in Final Fantasy 14.
