Squad 0 are an elite group of Soul Reapers who are also commonly known as the Royal Guard due to being the bodyguards of the Soul King himself. Bleach: 9 Characters Whose Appearances Have Changed The Most

It’s hard to recognize these Bleach characters by the final arc of the story considering how much their appearances have changed.

While they already looked amazing in the original Bleach manga, the Thousand Year Blood War anime has really emphasized the striking appearances of these characters, and has even gifted them a few extra scenes to show what they’re truly made of in battle too. When honing in solely on their appearances alone though, this is how the memorable members of Squad 0 rank.

5

Tenjiro Kirinji

Tenjiro’s Effortlessly Cool Design Suits His Carefree Personality

  • First Appearance: Bleach TYBW Episode 8

Kubo has a knack for being able to create characters who look effortlessly cool, and a prime example of this is Tenjiro. Tenjiro, the healer Of Squad 0, can always be seen wearing a permanent scowl across his face, along with a small chewing stick that never leaves his mouth and an open jacket exposing his impressive physique.

Another very noticeable aspect of his design is Tenjiro’s hair, which manages to stretch forward like a sharp blade before dipping at the very end, even reaching down the sides of his face to give him pointy sideburns. Though Tenjiro’s appearance isn’t as flashy as some of his fellow Squad 0 members, there’s still a lot to love about this cool, calm, and collected Soul Reaper’s look.

4

Kirio Hifune

Hifune Bright And Vibrant Designs Make Her A Joy To Watch On Screen

  • First Appearance: Bleach TYBW Episode 8

Hifune technically has 2 designs, one where she can be seen with a bigger frame, and another where she slims down. Both these looks see Hifune rocking bright pink hair, which is by far her most unique feature, along with a black and white standard-issue robe, and a giant spoon she carries with her everywhere she goes. When looking closely, she also has red swirls under each of her eyes which actually change shape depending on which form Hifune is currently in.

Bleach: 9 Best Manga Covers, Ranked

Bleach’s manga covers always hone in on a single character, but which portrait is considered to be the most iconic of them all?

There might not be all that many small details or features in Hifune’s design, but her vibrant facial expressions and hair still present her as a charming character who’s a ton of fun to watch on screen.

3

Ichibe Hyosube

Ichibe’s Unique Look Balances The Line Between Approachable Old Man To Bloodthirsty Demon

  • First Appearance: Bleach TYBW Episode 8

Ichibe possesses a pretty fascinating design that can allow him to look like a kind old man one moment, or a power-hungry demon in the next. His large thick eyebrows and long black beard already give him a very demanding presence, but Ichibe’s wide eyes are one particular aspect of his appearance Kubo has played around with throughout the series.

When a fight starts getting serious, Ichibe’s black pupils will completely disappear, turning him into an utterly terrifying ancient warrior who possesses more than enough power to take down even the strongest of enemies, aside from Yhwach, at least. At the same time though, Ichibe also wears a set of large red prayer beads around his neck which reminds fans how traditional he is, and that he isn’t always as bloodthirsty as he may sometimes look when engaged in an epic battle.

2

Oetsu Nimaiya

Oetsu’s Modernized Take On The Traditional Soul Reaper Outfit Gives Him An Effortlessly Stylish Appearance

  • First Appearance: Bleach TYBW Episode 8

Simply put, Oetsu is a character who just oozes style. Whether it’s the blue shades hiding his eyes, the white puffer jacket that imitates the Soul Reaper uniform, or even his finely cut black hair, it’s clear this is a guy who prioritizes his looks, and it results in a dazzling character design that perfectly suits his personality.

The Bleach series is packed full of exciting fights, but fans might be most familiar with seeing these characters clashing swords the most.

Despite having been around for so long, Oetsu is known for being the trendiest member of Squad 0, so it makes sense why he decides to go for a more modernized iteration of the standard Soul Reaper look. Since there are barely any Soul Reapers who share this kind of fashion sense with Oetsu, it makes him instantly recognizable and a real sight to behold.

Senjumaru Shutara

Senjumaru’s Fascinating And Slightly Creepy Design Feeds Into Her Role As An Immensely Talented Inventor

  • First Appearance: Bleach TYBW Episode 8

It’s hard to look away from Senjumaru whenever she shows up on screen considering how jawdropping her design is. Since she is known as an inventor, Senjumaru’s experimental design suits her role in the team, especially the long golden arms that are always creepily moving around behind her back. In fact, Senjumaru relies on these extra limbs so often that she can often be seen with her real arms being kept by her sides, and when paired with her piercing eyes and stern facial expressions, it gives her a very intimidating appearance, to say the least.

Sanjumaro also wears a large golden ornament in the shape of a crescent moon behind her head which acts as a subtle way to highlight her royal status. A special mention also needs to go to Senjumaru’s black and purple hair, which is extra long at the sides, a rather unique style that also goes a long way in helping her stand out from the other Soul Reapers. Senjumaru clearly enjoys putting her creativity on full display through her fashion sense, and it creates an iconic look that, thankfully, was shown off a lot more in the Thousand Year Blood War anime.
