1. Increase your odds by duplicating him.

A single Bruce Banner on the board isn’t reliable, as his chances of transforming into Hulk are minimal. If you’ve played him before, you know he’s often reluctant to Hulk out. By duplicating Bruce Banner and having two or more on the board, you can significantly boost your odds of getting at least one Hulk after a few rounds. (Though, it’s also worth noting that going that route costs you real estate and might clog lanes.)

2. Protect his lane.

Bruce Banner is an easy target for enemy tech cards, so you’ll need to shield him. Cards like Armor, Caiera, and Cosmo are excellent options for protecting him. Choose support cards that not only defend Bruce but also synergize well with the rest of your deck.

3. Play him as early as possible.

The longer Bruce Banner is on the board, the greater your chances of seeing him transform into Hulk. While the transformation rate stays at 25% per round, the cumulative probability increases with each turn. Playing Bruce early and extending the match with Magik can give you more opportunities to unleash free Hulks.

Bruce isn’t hard to counter. Red Guardian works well during his pre-Hulk phase, while Shang-Chi can handle him after he transforms. Lady Deathstrike can also remove Bruce with the right timing. However, the best counterplay is often just waiting. If Bruce doesn’t transform, there’s no need to counter him—a 2-Cost, 1-Power Bruce Banner left on the board is more of a liability for your opponent than a threat to you.

The short answer is no. Bruce Banner may have seemed promising pre-launch, but early stats show he’s a mediocre card at best. You’ll likely lose more matches relying on Bruce than you’ll win. Plus, your decks are better off without more RNG.

The only players who might enjoy Bruce are casual ones. If you don’t care about competitive viability and just want fun gameplay, he could be an entertaining addition to your collection.
