The more powerful the PC, the more heat it typically generates. That’s why it’s so impressive to see a silent mini gaming PC such as this new Cirrus7 machine, which has absolutely no fans. Cirrus7, a specialist German PC manufacturer, has been shipping the passively cooled Cirrus7 Incus since 2019, but it’s now just announced a refresh to its lineup, with new CPUs from Intel and AMD from which to choose, including the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X.
As our Geekom AX8 Pro review showed, keeping a high-spec PC cool in such a small space can be tricky, usually relying on high-spinning fans to get the job done. The Cirrus 7 Incus, meanwhile, instead uses a special aluminum case to spread the heat away from the Intel or AMD CPU in use, keeping the PC silent in the process.
This highly powerful mini PC is available in several different configurations, but the new refresh allows you to choose between 14th-gen Intel Raptor Lake CPUs, such as the Intel Core i9 14900T, or brand-new AMD Ryzen 9000 series CPUs, such as the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X. The build itself uses a custom Mini-STX motherboard, with three different case designs that use metal cooling fins to help remove the heat.
You can choose your own storage, RAM, and built-in wireless connection options, as well as your preferred operating system. For a gaming build, a good configuration would be to choose an AM5 CPU such as the AMD Ryzen 7 8700G, which uses the same AMD Radeon 780M integrated GPU found in a gaming handheld such as the Asus ROG Ally X, which is capable of handling 1080p gameplay at modest settings.
Combine that with 16GB RAM and a good-sized 1TB M.2 SSD for storage, using the bigger extended cooling case design, and this Cirrus 7 Incus PC will cost nearly $1,100. While that might seem expensive, this mini PC’s whole design is focused on having zero fans, meaning that it’s completely silent, or as close to silent as any electronic device can be.
