Summary
- This Dragon Age: The Veilguard modder is turning every single NPC into Elgar’nan.
- It’s a work-in-progress right now, but so far, every companion and NPC has been converted. The only hiccup at the moment is that some background civilians stay the same.
- It’s slightly cursed, but you can take it even further with a Barbie recolour that makes him pink.
What if Elgar’nan was the friends we made along the way? Literally. As in, Neve was secretly a big square-headed Evanuris who wanted to destroy the world. And so was Harding. And so was Davrin. And so was—
That’s what modder Xynyxx has imagined, swapping out every companion and NPC in Dragon Age: The Veilguard with Elgar’nan. They even have unique variants, like an Elgar’nan with Manfred’s googly-eyed green goggles.
It’s a work-in-progress right now, since “most civilians are unaffected” by the strange spread of Elgar’nans. Which, for the record, is a bug.
Xynyxx wants to “turn everyone into Elgar’nan”, whether they’re a minor background character or play a pivotal role in the story. The only unique face you’ll ever see is Rook’s.

“Nobody else seemed to like the ‘leper king’ direction, but I thought it’d be cool.”
There’s a few upsides to using a mod like this. For one, every companion you romance will be Elgar’nan, so no matter what, you get a cute little scene at the end of the game with the tyrannical elven god. Another bonus is that you get to see him trapped in Solas’ prison, pulling an incredibly cursed trickster smile.
Why Not Give Him A Barbie Makeover?
If that’s not enough Elgar’nan for you, Xynyxx has another mod — Elgy Recolors.
It does exactly what it says on the tin, recolouring Elgar’nan’s outfit with a variety of options, but my favourite is easily his Barbie-style pink.
Otherwise, you can pick up red and black versions, which are more in keeping with his usual aesthetic.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the long-awaited fourth game in the fantasy RPG series from BioWare formerly known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. A direct sequel to Inquisition, it focuses on red lyrium and Solas, the aforementioned Dread Wolf.
