  • Released as the failed successor and EA Sports UFC, EA finally puts UFC Mobile 2 out of its misery.
  • Players can continue playing the game until the D-Day ie March 13th, 2025.
  • With no new UFC Mobile announced from EA, have we seen the end of UFC Mobile games then?

Electronic Arts or EA Sports has recently announced the shutdown of its MMA sports simulation game, UFC Mobile 2. Initially launched in 2022, after conducting multiple beta tests in 2020, UFC Mobile 2 is finally shutting down on March 13th, 2025. EA has announced the game’s termination notice across its social media platforms and forums.

Originally released as a successor to EA’s original EA Sports UFC (2015), UFC Mobile received mixed to negative reviews right from its early access days. While EA Sports UFC was more focused on providing players with a fighting-based simulation in the Octagon, UFC Mobile 2 offered arcadey combat where controls were minimized to just taps and swipes, thereby failing to create a decent enough MMA experience.

Players have can continue to battle in the Octagon till March 13, 2025

According to EA’s official announcement, UFC Mobile 2 is no longer available to download across both the Google Play and App Stores and players won’t be able to buy any new currency using the IAPs. Users who still have the game installed are instructed to utilize their in-game currencies until the game shuts down on March 13th, 2025 as no refunds for prior transactions will be made.

While the game failed to win over hardcore MMA fans, the casuals however took it with open arms. With better graphics, presentation, and events UFC Mobile 2 garnered some fan-following during its run, amassing over 10 million downloads in the process. And thanks to EA’s unique licensing portfolio, UFC Mobile 2 hailed supreme as the sole licensed MMA title on mobile with real fighters and their moves.

The announcement came as a shocker to players who invested their time and hours in UFC Mobile 2. People have expressed their disappointment in the game’s social media posts, citing EA’s action of discontinuing EA Sports UFC (2015) in 2022 and repeating the same with UFC Mobile 2. Fans have been vocal in criticizing the game due to its recent lack of content, new events, and predatory IAPs.

EA has been minimizing its catalog of mobile games over the year

It’s not new for EA to pull the plug off a popular mobile title with them previously killing both Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile last year. This year, EA announced the shutdown of two of its sports titles, MLB Tap Sports Baseball and F1 Mobile Racing, besides a series of seven other mobile games set to terminate in January next year. Unsurprisingly, only EA’s holy trinity of FC Mobile, Madden Mobile, and NBA Live Mobile have stood the test of time over the years.

Also, without promising any new UFC mobile title for the future, the announcement thanks the community for its continued support and redirects to EA Sports UFC 5, the much-successful console alternative. With no MMA mobile game that possesses the official UFC license, it is yet to be seen if EA will announce a new UFC Mobile title in the future.
