Level Infinite has announced the publishing rights for their popular open-world MMORPG, Tower of Fantasy, will be transferred to Perfect World Games, the parent company of Hotta Studio, on February 23, 2025. Apart from Publishing rights, the voice-over contracts for both the main male and female protagonists in Tower of Fantasy have ended for the Japanese and English versions.
ToF to discontinue voice-overs for MCs due to publishing plan adjustments
For those unfamiliar, Tower of Fantasy is a popular shared open-world MMORPG set on the distant planet of Aida, hundreds of years ahead in the future. Developed by Hotta Studio, a subsidiary of Perfect World Games, the game blends anime-inspired post-apocalyptic sci-fi adventure with dynamic combat and freeform character development. The global version of the game was launched on August 11, 2022.
Level Infinite has announced an important change in the operations and distribution of the Tower of Fantasy, that is Perfect World Games will handle the game’s distribution, operation, and management from February 23, 2025, following the transfer of publishing rights.
In addition, the team shared via X (formerly known as Twitter) that the English and Japanese voice-overs for the male and female protagonists will no longer be available starting from version 4.5 of the game.
The devs have revealed the transition timeline along with details on the voice-over contract
This decision comes from the publishing changes, as they stated, “Due to publishing adjustments and after all careful consideration.” While you can’t enjoy main MC voice-overs with the future updates, they are assuring you that “all MC voice-overs from versions prior to 4.5 will be retained.”
Here’s the distributor transition timeline for the game:
- December 24, 2024: The devs will open the Account Authorization and Transfer Confirmation page after updating the game to version 4.5.
- December 24, 2024, to February 23, 2025: During this period, you can authorize your game’s data transfer or modify your decision.
- February 14, 2025: The transition of store and app distribution rights will take place, and at the same time, in-game transaction services, will be disabled.
- February 23, 2025: On this day, Level Infinite will officially terminate their servers. Along with this, the original Customer Support and related services will also be discontinued. Moreover, PWG will announce the opening date of the new servers.
- February 23, 2025, to April 24, 2025: If you miss the initial data transfer deadline, you can complete it during this extended period.
- April 24, 2025: The devs will officially close the Account Authorization and Transfer Confirmation page.
- April 30, 2025: If you still don’t transfer your game data or your authorization is denied, your data will be permanently deleted.
