Squishmallows are big business with a lot of series and studios teaming up with Jazwares to turn famous fictional characters into the squishy, still relatively new plushes. You’d think there are limits on who and what works as a Squishmallow, but Jazwares has proved it can make almost anything work yet again, this time via its first The Lord Of The Rings Squishmallows.
Jazwares made the big reveal of its debuting Lord Of The Ring Squishmallows at the weekend via the range’s Instagram account. The first three characters from the iconic books and movies to get their own Squishmallows will be Frodo, Gandalf, and Gollum. Not the three characters from Middle-earth I’d have envisioned as Squishmallows, but then again, I’m not sure there’s anything that calls Middle-earth home that would make a natural Squishmallow.

Jazwares has indeed done it again as even the creepy Gollum has been made to look squishy, cute, and adorable. The quick look at the plushes has confirmed they will all be traditional, Squishmallow fare, that being big, round, and soft. All three have additional details that make them unique other than the base designs. Gollum has ears, Frodo’s Squishmallow is wearing a cape, and Gandalf the Grey has donned a plush hat.

Jazwares Kicking Off 2025 Early With A Big Reveal
All good news so far for The Lord Of The Rings fans. The only downside is the lack of details provided at this early stage. Everything you can see in the graphic above is everything that has been revealed so far. The Squishmallow sizes, prices, and release dates have not been revealed. The post simply notes that the plush trio “arrives soon”.
It might seem odd to reveal these a few days before Christmas. Had they been revealed, and released, a couple of months ago, they could have been bought as gifts for the holidays. Much like Funko Pops and other collectibles though, the Squishmallows wheel never stops turning. There will need to be new plush designs to kick off 2025, and it seems these three will be among the first available to buy at some point in the first few months of the new year.
There was one way you could get these three new Squishmallows not only before everyone else, but for free to boot. Jazwares ran a giveaway following their reveal, but it has since stopped taking entires so if you missed it, you missed out.
If you do want a new Squishmallow this holiday season, Pokemon expanded its growing collection by two last month when it added Chansey and Eevee to its Squishmallow family. Jazwares also released Stranger Things Squishmallows this year, proving even more than its new Lord Of The Rings designs that no IP is safe from Squishmallows’ soft and snuggly reach.
