Huge anime RPG’s latest crossover welcomes Stellar Blade aboard

Both created by ShiftUp, Goddess of Victory Nikke and Stellar Blade feel like natural bedfellows. They’re both sci-fi, both anime-inspired, and variously take inspiration from classic RPG mechanics. They’re also both… thirsty. Having passed more than 45 million downloads since its release in 2022, Nikke is about to get a substantial update as well as two fresh crossovers, one with Stellar Blade and one with the legendary Neon Genesis Evangelion. Expect new maps, new quests, and even new Nikkes, as the android gacha that previously teamed up with Nier Automata outlines major plans for the future.

In a post-apocalyptic future where the remnants of humanity have been forced underground by the gigantic, mechanical Raptures, Goddess of Victory Nikke casts you as the commander of a small team of androids as they wage war on the robotic invaders. Part anime, part gacha game, and part RPG, the next big update arrives on Thursday December 26 and introduces the ‘Cheers to the Past, Here’s to the New’ New Year’s event. Shortly after, on Wednesday January 1, you can recruit a new character, Rapi: Red Hood. One of Nikke’s central characters, this is a new version of Rapi who has awakened after bonding with another, seriously powerful Nikke.

With previous collaborations including Nier Automata and, strangely enough, Dave The Diver, in February 2025 Goddess of Victory Nikke launches a new crossover with iconic anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion. As well as introducing Evangelion characters Asuka, Rei, Mari, and Misato, the collab will also bring a new super super rare (SSR) character and one who is free to obtain. There will be a new 3D map, exclusive outfits (including free skins), and an Evangelion-connected storyline, as well as a fresh minigame to try out.

Perhaps the biggest announcement, however, is the crossover between Nikke and ShiftUp’s other anime-inflected shooter Stellar Blade. Unfortunately, all we know right now is that it’s definitely happening – no precise details have been confirmed and there’s no launch date. But if you’re a big fan of ShiftUp’s console debut and want to recruit Eve to the Counters, as well still anticipate the possibility of a Stellar Blade PC version, this might be your chance.

The new Goddess of Victory Nikke update arrives on Thursday December 26, with the Neon Genesis Evangelion crossover coming in February. You can play Goddess of Victory Nikke for free right here.
