Board wipes can range from destroying every monster on the field or all of the back row. Some might even leave a single card standing or bring out something else after it’s done cleaning the field.

Interrupted Kaiju Slumber

A Great Way To Use Kaijus

If you love Kaiju, then there is a way to destroy every monster on the field while also getting something back in return. Interrupted Kaiju Slumber destroys as many monsters on the field as possible, then lets you search for two Kaiju with different names from your deck.

You then give one of these monsters to your opponent and another on your own field. All you have to do then is deal with their Kaiju, and you’ve pretty much gotten rid of an entire facet of their strategy.

Raigeki

Yu-Gi-Oh!’s Original Board Wipe

Raigeki is the original board wipe, first introduced in Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon. This simple card lets you destroy all of your opponent’s monsters. In the days of Duel Monsters, this card saw play as an easy way of destroying monsters when you had nothing powerful enough to beat over them.

Raigeki may have been powercrept since then, but it is still a powerful card if it manages to successfully go through with its effect. It is also non-targeting, which helps sidestep some restrictions.

Dreaming Nemleria

A Sleeping Board Wipe

One interesting board wipe was introduced in Cyberstorm Access. Her effect allows you to banish cards on the field or in the grave for every three face-down banished cards that you have. So, by combining it with cards that banish from the deck or extra deck, it is easy to have enough fuel to wipe your opponent’s entire board.

While it does require you to empty your extra deck first, you can also prevent your opponent from negating the effect with Sweet Dreams Nemleria, another card in its archetype.

Judgment Dragon

A Classic Edison Card

Judgment Dragon is an iconic card that often sees play in Edison Format. This card can easily get on the field when you have four other Lightsworn monsters in your graveyard. You can then pay 1000 life points to destroy every other card on the field.

This is good because it not only destroys monsters but anything in the back row as well. It also stays on the field, which lets you have something to attack with, unlike other cards that also get destroyed with their own effects.

Dark Hole

Destroy Cards On Both Sides Of The Field

Another classic card that can destroy multiple things at once is Dark Hole. This card is a bit more balanced than Raigeki. Rather than destroying just your opponent’s monsters, it will also destroy your own.

While this might seem like a heavy cost, it usually isn’t if you’re going second and have nothing on the board anyway. It can also be used in combination with monsters that have trigger effects when destroyed by setting them off for you, so it’s not a bad way of doing two things at once.

Chaos Emperor Dragon, Envoy Of The End

A Legendary Banned Card

Chaos Emperor Dragon, Envoy of the End may have gotten an errata to make it less powerful, but the effect is no laughing matter. For the cost of banishing one Dark and one Light monster, Chaos Emperor Dragon can Special Summon itself onto the field.

You can then pay 1000 life points to send everything on the field and in each player’s hand to the grave. While this may not do much due to so many cards having graveyard effects, there was a time when doing this put your opponent at great risk of bricking the next turn.

Nibiru

A Fantastic Hand Trap

If you’re looking for a convenient board wipe that can bottleneck your opponent’s full potential, then Nibiru can do so after five Summons. You can activate Nibiru from your hand while your opponent tries to combo their way to a good endboard. If they can’t negate it, all the monsters they have out get tributed.

While this leaves them with a powerful token, it also means anything that they needed on the board to complete their play may now be gone. So, unless they have another card that can Special Summon from the deck or the graveyard, players can often find themselves stuck trying to play around this nasty hand trap.

Black Rose Dragon

A Classic Synchro Monster

All the original Synchro Monsters had a unique effect to rein in the 5DS era of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. Black Rose Dragon could destroy every card on the field including itself, if you manage to get it on the field. While this might also leave you without a monster on the board, it could sometimes be a fantastic way to nuke the field without having to draw a specific Spell card.

Black Rose Dragon also has an additional effect that lets you tribute a Plant monster to force one of your opponent’s monsters into attack position and reduce their attack to zero.

Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS, Sky Thunder

Send Everything To The Grave

If you’re playing any XYZ monsters in your extra deck, then Zeus is a must-have as an option to wipe the field. This card is easy to get out if one of your XYZ monsters attacked during the turn. Then you can simply overlay it without needing any level 12 monsters on the field.

Then all you have to do to send every other card to the grave is detach two materials from Zeus. This can also be a useful board wipe that doesn’t trigger destruction effects.

Evenly Matched

A Toxic Card To End Toxic Boards

If you’re looking for the perfect side deck option, then Evenly Matched will get rid of some of the most toxic cards on your opponent’s side of the field. The only downside is that you must give up your battle phase if you intend to use this card.

If your opponent does not have a card that can negate Traps, then they must banish all but one of their cards on the field face down. While they do get to choose what remains, none of their graveyard effects or destruction effects will be triggered by Evenly Matched.
