Netflix’s Arcane has come to an end after two seasons, but talks of spin offs and continuations have been swirling. The animations, character-driven storytelling, and action choreography made the show popular even among those who don’t know anything about League of Legends. Unfortunately, it’s going to be a while before we see anything new from the Arcane Universe.

Now the animated show is over, you’re probably thinking about the game that inspired it.
While the series gave us a look at popular characters from the game, it also introduced some original characters that would fit right into the mix. One of these characters is Mel Medarda, who, in the last couple of episodes, showed off some pretty neat powers. It seems that while characters are mostly inspired by the game, Arcane writers are hoping they could return the favour.
Inspire The Inspiration
In a conversation with GamesRadar+, Arcane writer and producer Amanda Overton said that the team is hopeful that Mel would be the first character to swim against the tide and inspire the developers to add her to the game. Her unique new powers make her a great candidate for League of Legends, and the writers think she would fit right in.
“I think we were all, in the writers’ room, thinking ‘we’re making something badass and unique here – hopefully, fingers crossed, they’ll put her in the game’, said Overton. “I think that was always our hope that some of the characters in the show would go to the game and vice versa.” There are already rumours of Mel coming to the game in 2025, after Riot recently introduced Ambessa to League of Legends.
“We always knew that Mel would be a mage, and she would have this arc, and we also always knew what her powers would be,” Overton explained. She revealed that the team thought it would be “very interesting to give someone a power that’s like a mirroring power, because they can beat anyone… they could be up against the most powerful mage, and they could beat them. To me, that is infinitely interesting.”
Arcane fans were left disappointed that the show lost out on the Best Adaptation award at The Game Awards to Fallout. But, they were happy for Ella Purnell, who was in both shows, playing Jinx and Lucy respectively.
Set in the League of Legends universe, Arcane focuses on sisters Violet and Powder (later Jinx) as they end up on opposite sides of a growing conflict between the wealthy utopia of Piltover and its dark undercity whose citizens wish to break away from their oppressors. Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell, and Kevin Alejandro star in this animated adventure.
