An Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has recreated the iconic shower scene from Chris Columbus’ 1992 Christmas movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. The scene in question features Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McCallister fooling Tim Curry’s Mr. Hector into thinking the boy’s father is showering with music playing in the background, instead of staying in the lavish Plaza Hotel himself. New Horizons’ slew of cosmetics and expressive avatars are varied enough to recreate several pop culture scenes with added comical value.

Nintendo’s social simulation game was released in 2020, during the height of the pandemic, and provided gamers with some joyful island-building while connecting with family and friends. The game is still very popular four years later, and players were recently treated to the inclusion of Pocket Camp Complete after the original 2017 game reached its end of service. Some Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans hope a controversial Pocket Camp feature is implemented in the next game by Nintendo, which would broaden the gameplay horizons of the long-running franchise.

Kevin and Mr Hector’s expressions were reimagined perfectly in the animation, and a mix of the blow-up clown doll Kevin uses and the likeness of his grumpy Uncle Frank was also achieved. This isn’t the first time Home Alone has been recreated in a video game, however, as The Sims 4 player built Kevin’s house in the life sim.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Player Recreates Home Alone 2 Shower Scene

Out of the six Home Alone movies, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York remains fans’ favorite, beating even Chris Columbus’ original 1990 entry, and the New Horizons animation was a huge hit with the film and gaming comminuties. Redditors thought the creator should get some kind of award from Nintendo for their ability to match the movie’s cinematography and energy though in-game cosmetics. Others stated the animation was a delight to watch, leaving several fans with smiles on their faces, and the demand for more scenes to be made followed.

Fans of the movies may be surprised to know that Home Alone has a history in video games, including titles on the NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, and PlayStation 2. Lost in New York, in particular, received a side-scrolling beat-em-up title in 1992, where players would navigate the concrete jungle and visit memorable locations and characters from the film, including the lobby boys at the Plaza Hotel, the birds at Central Park, and the Wet Bandits.
