Bethesda has had a busy year. Between the success of Amazon’s Fallout show, Fallout 76 content, and Starfield updates, 2024 has seen plenty from the developer. Such a big year raises questions about what the developer has in store for 2025. Bethesda has remained one of the biggest studios in the industry, and the upcoming year will hopefully bring even more high points.
After a solid successful year, Bethesda continues to expand its reach. Many fans of the developer have been eager to learn about planned projects, and while official announcements of new games remain uncertain, there is already plenty for Fallout 76 fans to look forward to.

Fallout 76’s 2025 Roadmap
January and February bring several events to the multiplayer title, but the most exciting month for Fallout 76 is March, as playable Ghouls finally become reality. The update arrives alongside Season 20, finally bringing to life a feature that many Fallout fans have been requesting for a long time. Actor Walton Goggins’ portrayal of The Ghoul in the live action series really reignited demand for playable Ghouls, and 2025 is the year it finally becomes possible. Amazon’s live action series may be partially to thank for such a feature, but fans of the show may have a barren new year.
There has yet to be an official release date for Fallout 76’s playable ghouls.
A Quiet Year for Fallout’s Live-Action Series
Although many are hoping for a second season of Amazon’s Fallout series, there may be a longer wait than expected. Filming for Fallout Season 2 just recently began, meaning that it likely won’t be ready in time for a 2025 premiere. If production on Season 2 takes as long as its predecessor, then fans of the series may have to wait until 2026 before finding out what is in store next for Lucy, The Ghoul, and Maximus.
Fallout‘s first season took 8 months to film and a year of post-production.
Questions About Starfield’s Next DLC Could Be Answered
Todd Howard has confirmed that Bethesda has more plans for Starfield after Shattered Space. Theories have suggested that the next expansion could be called Starborn. This has yet to be confirmed, but an official announcement in 2025 feels like a very real possibility. Although the Shattered Space DLC received heavily mixed reviews, Bethesda is likely to expand Starfield further through DLC content and official mods found via the company’s Creation Club.
The Elder Scrolls 6 News Remains on Fans’ Wish Lists
When it comes to discussing the future of Bethesda, the elephant in the room is without a doubt The Elder Scrolls 6. As it stands, there is no telling when The Elder Scrolls 6 will be announced. Since 2018, speculation about the next Elder Scrolls chapter has been at the front of many gamers’ minds. A 2025 update feels unlikely at this time, but there is always the possibility of an unexpected surprise. The only thing that is truly known about the game is that expectations for The Elder Scrolls 6 are incredibly high, leaving Bethesda with the tough task of reaching the high bar that it set.
The Elder Scrolls 6 was originally announced at E3 on June 10, 2018, with a 30-second teaser trailer. Six years later, Bethesda has yet to reveal any new footage or information about the Skyrim follow-up.
If a new Elder Scrolls 6 announcement is revealed in 2025, Summer Game Fest, Gamescom, and The Game Awards would be the most likely stages to make such an announcement, but this is probably wishful thinking. Despite no clear indication of The Elder Scrolls 6 news on the horizon, Fallout 76 and Starfield are currently poised to be Bethesda’s main focus throughout the year.
