The Best Mace Enchantments In Minecraft

The Minecraft 1.21 update, also known as the Tricky Trials update, added a plethora of new things to the game. Copper blocks, tuff block variants, new hostile mobs, the Bad Omen bottle, and the trial chambers were just some of the most notable things that were introduced into the game.

One of the biggest items that excited fans was the addition of a new weapon called the Mace, which could only be crafted from a heavy core and breeze rod, both of which are items only obtained inside the trial chambers. Like any other weapon, you can customize the mace with enchantments, so let’s take a look.

Curse of Vanishing

Your Item Vanishes Upon Death

Curse of Vanishing sounds exactly like what the title suggests. If you have this enchantment on the item when you die, the item is going to disappear from the world completely, which means there is no chance of getting it back.

You most likely wouldn’t add this to any of your items, unless maybe you’re doing a challenge, but having Curse of Vanishing on your mace would mean losing it permanently if you die. Replacing the mace would be very time-consuming, especially since the heavy core is one of the rare blocks in the game.

Bane of Arthropods

A Great Way To Fight Against Spiders

The mace is a unique weapon, but it is slower than the other weapons in the game. Fighting mobs with certain enchantments on them can be quite useful, but maybe not as useful if you have Bane of Arthropods on.

This enchantment increases damage dealt to bug-like creatures in the game: spiders, bees, silverfish, and endermites. It’s not the most ideal, but can be extremely useful for spider spawner farms or hunting spiders at night.

Smite

Very Handy Against The Undead Mobs

Smite is very similar to Bane of Arthropods in that this enchantment deals more damage to a specific category of mobs. In Smite’s case, the increased damage dealt is to that of the undead, which includes the overworld and nether mobs.

This means that mobs like zombies, drowned, skeletons, wither skeletons, skeleton horses, pigmen, and the wither are just some of the undead mobs that this enchantment has an effect on. This is another great enchantment used for spawner farms or even going out hunting for mobs if you want to get use out of your mace.

Fire Aspect

When You Want To Set Mobs On Fire

Fire Aspect has many uses as an enchantment, the main one being that it ignites the target upon being hit. The flames deal damage to the target and can be quite useful in a variety of situations. One of the best uses for this is getting cooked food from animals.

Being able to set a mob on fire while battling others can be risky, especially if there are many that crowd you which can set you on fire, making it one of the major downsides of this enchantment. Fire Aspect also doesn’t work in the rain, but in the Bedrock Edition, it can light unlit candles, campfires, and TNT.

Unbreaking

Perfect For Making Sure Your Item Lasts Longer

There are many core enchantments that you should always have on your weapons, tools, and armor. Unbreaking is one of them, no matter if it’s Unbreaking 1, 2, or 3. Just having Unbreaking 1 helps the item last a little longer.

If you are new to the game, Unbreaking helps negate durability consumption on items, meaning that it uses up less durability as you use the item. This is incredibly helpful for weapons, tools, and armor that you often use and want to keep from breaking during heavy-duty projects.

Breach

Great For Taking On Armored Mobs And Players

Breach is one of the enchantments that is only used specifically for the mace and is also a mutually exclusive enchantment meaning that is incompatible with another mace enchantment: Density.

This enchantment allows you to reduce the effectiveness of the armor on a target by 15% per level. While it can be useful for taking on armored mobs in the trial chambers, the Breach enchantment is more suited for PvP against other players in diamond or netherrite armor.

Wind Burst

A Fun Way To Launch Yourself Upwards After An Attack

Windburst is another enchantment that can only be added to the mace and is a unique enchantment for its use. When used, it gives you an upward knockback effect much like the wind charge, but unlike wind charges, you take fall damage.

Having this enchantment on your mace gives you some fun combinations. You can chain together attacks after successfully executing a smash attack, meaning if there is a line of targets that allows damage to be done to them, you can continuously activate the Windburst enchantment just by hitting them.

Mending

Mending is one of the enchantments that is a must-have on any tool, weapon, or item just because of how incredibly useful it is. If you are new to the game, Mending allows you to repair the durability of an item with experience.

The durability of a mace is at 500, which sets it between the durability of iron and diamond weapons. Being able to repair an item with experience was a complete game changer when it was introduced into Minecraft, and it is hard to think of the days when it wasn’t in the game.

Density

Density is the last of enchantments that is only specifically used for the mace and cannot be combined with the Breach enchantment. This enchantment increases the damage you do depending on how many blocks you fall from.

So what does that mean? Well, if you were to fall from a five-block height and attack a mob or player, it would do increased damage. You can fall from the sky limit and if you land your hit, you are guaranteed to annihilate your target. This can be wildly useful in a range of situations, from PvP to sneaking up on mobs or even just falling from the sky and surprising your target.
